We are looking for an analytical chemist skilled in NMR and MS to join our team within the Discovery Chemistry Department. Tasks in this position include structure elucidation of compounds from discovery chemistry, support of process development activities, and identification and characterization of impurities, degradants, and metabolites.
Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities)
Familiarity with NMR and MS techniques applicable to a drug discovery environment.
Working knowledge of organic chemistry.
Participates in operation and maintenance of lab including cryogen and solvent fills.
Identifies and implements novel experiments to address unmet challenges.
Helps maintain and develop automated data workflows to maximize throughput.
Manages tight timelines and competing requests.
Aids users with open access instruments.
Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency)
Ph.D. in Chemistry or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 2 years of related NMR and MS experience.
Well-versed in structure elucidation of small molecules.
Capable of working independently, while being a team player with superior interpersonal skills.
Experience with Bruker NMR instruments as well as Agilent and Waters LC-MS equipment.
Proficient with modern computational techniques (chemical shift prediction, DFT, etc).
Broad range of NMR and MS experience (natural product isolation and structure determination, protein-ligand binding, fragment based screening, etc.).
Proficient with Python, C++, and KNIME.
Experienced with programming of Bruker NMR pulse sequences and creating AU programs to aid in automated data acquisition and processing.
Has a working knowledge of Linux.
