Job Description

ChristianaCare is looking to hire a fulltime Surgical Scheduler for a Women's Health Office in Chadds Ford, PA.

As a surgical scheduler you would schedule procedures, in collaboration with providers and surgical block time, assuring the availability and proper utilization of resources including time, equipment, and personnel.

Schedule all surgical and imaging procedures for the Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery practice.
Obtain all necessary insurance carrier referrals and/or authorizations.
Provide non-clinical preoperative instructions and directions.
Prepare and mail surgical packets to patients.
Prepare FMLA/disability paperwork for physician review.
Maintain tracking system to ensure completion of all necessary preoperative clearances and testing.
Interact with physicians, physician's offices, various Christiana Care departments, patients and patient's family on a daily basis.
Demonstrate compliance with Christiana Care and departmental policies and procedures and mandatory education requirements including but not limited to safety, infection control, attendance and dress code.
Perform assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
Performs other related clerical duties as required.

High school graduate.
Minimum of three years related medical office experience with knowledge of compute scheduling for multiple providers.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Knowledge of third-party insurance claim policies.
Knowledge of clerical methods and techniques.
Knowledge of medical and/or radiology facility.
Knowledge of criteria for safe scheduling parameters (MRI Hazards).
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to interview patients, obtain appropriate information, and register patients.
Ability to maintain confidential information and materials.
Ability to work under pressure.
Ability to establish and maintain superior quality customer relations with patients, patient families, Christiana Care Health System staff, visitors, insurance companies, physicians, and the general public.
Ability to coordinate work schedule to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency.
Willingness to expand knowledge in the operation of the department.
Skill in data entry.
