What does a Managing Counsel, Merchant Services do?

As Managing Counsel, you will provide legal support with an emphasis on drafting and negotiating agreements for financial institutions, card networks, vendors and other partners and customers of Fiserv’s merchant processing businesses . You will also provide legal support to teams that manage relationships with our largest financial institution partners. In addition, you will provide counsel to sales, account management, product, implementation, and technology leaders on legal matters; and liaise with company specialists regarding finance, audit, tax, intellectual property, technology, privacy, security, regulatory, employment, and litigation matters. The position may include management responsibility for other Fiserv associates.

You will provide meaningful contributions to the Fiserv Global Business Solutions division by:

+ Identifying potential risks through individual projects, collective projects and proactive efforts to evaluate processes and approaches. You will identify potential solutions or mitigations for such risks and identify and implement such solutions or mitigations.

+ Operating with latitude for un-reviewed action or decision, providing consultation and legal advice with respect to all relevant projects and company initiatives.

+ Identifying and completing discrete projects from start to finish, generally involving larger and more complex projects.

+ Exhibiting strong understanding of the business or functional area and independently recommending to client(s) changes in Legal and/ or business practices.

+ Independently demonstrating the ability to establish trust from senior management through effective interaction.

+ Exhibiting strong ability to prioritize projects from multiple clients.

+ Perform other duties as required.

B asic Qualifications for Consideration :

6+ years relevant experience

• JD from accredited law school

• Licensed to practice, or ability to become licensed to practice, in an appropriate jurisdiction

• In good standing with State Bar with no disciplinary record

Preferred Skills, Experience, and Education:

• Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills

• Exhibits effective time management skills and project execution skills

• Strong interpersonal skills/ team player

• Demonstrated legal knowledge/ familiarity in relevant subject matter(s)

• Self-motivated and accepts constructive guidance from direct manager(s) and clients

• Knowledge of merchant acquiring business and legal experience in financial services sector is a plus

Travel required:

Some travel required.

Hybrid role:

You can look forward to working with your colleagues, in office, three days a week. Two days per week you have the flexibility to work remotely.
