POSITION DESCRIPTION AND SPECIFICATION
POSITION TITLE: MRO Quality Manager DATE: November 2021
FLSA STATUS: Exempt DEPT: Quality
POSITION SUMMARY: The MRO Quality Manager reports to the Director of Quality and is responsible for maintenance of the organization’s Quality Management System which is compliant with 8210.1//AS9100/AS9110/FAR145 quality system requirements for MRO activities. These requirements also include the maintenance of customer quality requirements, facilitation of continuous improvement activities; administration and compliance with company safety practices; and performs other duties as required.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the quality team to ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
Directly supervises employees including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving issues.
Manage the quality systems ensuring that quality, technical and operational objectives are met.
Responsible for the overall quality rating for the organization and reporting key quality metrics to the Director of Quality.
Maintain an effective internal audit program for the organization ensuring that corrective actions are in place and validated.
Ensure quality team including auditors are adequately trained.
Manage the customer complaint system and corrective\preventive action program.
Maintain internal and external quality assurance programs including, AS9100, AS9110 and other customer required quality systems.
Analyze, evaluate and communicate information as required by the Director of Quality.
Ability to communicate to employees including peers, customers, and others in various forms, i.e., one on one, written, and formal presentations to groups.
Facilitate quality improvement, continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
Communicates quality philosophy, objectives and expectations to other departments in a team environment.
Monitor and review employees’ performance, provides coaching, teaching, and mentoring to encourage growth within the company.
Interfaces directly with customers.
Direct liaison during all Quality System audits as needed.
Respond to customer requests for corrective actions in a timely and efficient manner.
Currently manages the quality function for all MRO activities.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree is preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
An A&P License and Inspection Authorization are preferred.
Minimum of three years of quality leadership experience maintaining FAR 145/8210.1//AS9100/AS9110 Quality System (preferably in aviation).
Minimum of 5 years quality experience.
Minimum of 3 - 5 years management experience. Quality experience preferred.
Possess an ability to work in fast-pace and occasionally stressful environment while maintaining a high degree of flexibility, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously: possess thorough organization to ensure that all details of each ongoing project are followed through and managed correctly.
Must have good working knowledge of MS Office including the creation of spreadsheets, quotes/customer letters, databases, and reports (Excel and MS Word). Experience or ability to thoroughly learn CRM software, such as ACT and Outlook is needed.
Ability to work well with others in different departments, even when challenges arise (schedule, budget, etc.).
Should hold excellent initiative and judgment to make recommendations for improvements in our processes and product offerings. Individual will need to be assertive with vendors, and be able to effectively deal with demanding customers.
Must be willing to undertake new responsibilities as business needs change.
Presents self professionally and courteously with internal and external customers.
Ability to travel and maintain a professional presence while demonstrating product knowledge during conversation with prospects and demonstrate follow-through after the initial contact.
A proven achiever with strong team-building and interpersonal communication skills and must be able to develop strong relationships with new and existing customers.
Experience in lean manufacturing methods and continuous improvement processes preferred.
Must have strong leadership and project management skills.
Proven track record in implementing, monitoring and managing toward production, quality and safety metrics while achieving financial obligations.
