The Claim Director, under minimal direction from AVP - Claims Manager, will investigate and settle complex and high exposure first party Builders/Construction Risk, Entertainment, and Specialty Property claims within established best practice guidelines and allotted authority.
This role requires an individual to be accountable for the management and handling of a high volume of pending claims including investigation, coverage determination, reserving, negotiation, and settlement strategies.
The successful candidates daily responsibilities will be centered around promptly and appropriately developing each claim file from initial contact through final settlement. Including, but not limited to, the following:
o Directing a detailed and thorough investigation and loss analysis. Engaging and directing the appropriate outside vendors and effectively managing the scope of their assignment and associated expenses.
o Analyzing and addressing coverage issues timely and accurately. Effectively communicating coverage positions to brokers, risk managers, and policyholders. Preparing reservation of rights and denial of coverage letters where appropriate.
o Maintaining well documented and articulated claim file notes including the proper support documentation. Executing claims best practices and ensuring claims regulatory compliance, operating within a Sarbanes-Oxley compliant environment.
o Establishing accurate and timely loss reserves on each file or making reserve recommendations where need
