What does a great Senior Technology Operations Analyst

This Analyst will require knowledge of back-office systems and/or development which will be used to focus on production and non-production Unix/Linux technology systems. You will lead detection and troubleshooting of issues that affect delivery of Switching and Settlement services across multiple environments; this includes having a solid understanding of shell scripting on Unix/Linux platform, SQLPlus to access data within Oracle databases, and understanding of transaction processing within a time critical processing environment. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include working in a fast-paced environment to develop support utilities and applications: for managing payments back-office batch settlement systems; configuring core processing to critical surround subsystems; deployment of code releases; batch, file transmissions, and job scheduling improvements; addressing client or vendor escalated requests for assistance; improving execution of scripts and automation of repetitive tasks to eliminate errors and to improve quality of deliverables. You must have an overall understanding of DevOps and fundamentals of multi-tier application support. You will participate in the rotating on-call schedule, project delivery and business continuity support. You will be measured on the quality of production changes, timeliness of incident resolution, skills and speed applied to triage, monitoring and interpretation of alerts, and successful completion of assigned tasks. You must have great communication skills, as the role periodically interfaces with clients, business partners and vendors.

Essential Job Responsibilities

+ Distributed Unix/Linux Backoffice systems or development associate who can provide rotating 24×7 support of production applications and severity incidents.

+ Troubleshooting escalated issues within non-production and production multi-tier environments.

+ Resolve file transmission and job scheduling issues impacting timely delivery of content to financial institutions.

+ Create application monitoring scripts and automate alerts to inform technical and business teams of problems.

+ Make performance and infrastructure capacity improvements as well as enhancements to existing scripts.

+ Review deployment artifacts to ensure completion prior to executing production installs.

+ Participate on projects representing the Debit AppOps department, communicate status, challenges, and delivery risks.

+ Work with Change Management/Release Managers on the evaluation of change events and in planning work items for production deployment.

+ Participate in code and infrastructure patch installations or fallbacks. Validate systems are operating as they should, following a completed installation of new code or patches to the environment.

+ Perform trending and analysis of problems; develop risk mitigation plans for continuous improvement.

+ Ensure monitoring alerts and system events are risk assessed, prioritized, and worked aggressively.

+ Document defects and assign severity of impact for development to include in their backlog for delivery action.

+ Maintain or create technical support documentation, and work with offshore associates to assume the same.

+ Assume support responsibilities for production items currently being supported by development, and train new associates on Backoffice Application Support going forward.

+ Participate in BCP testing as scheduled: annual; bi-annual, and lead in areas assigned as DR coordinator.

+ Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and assignments and work with offshore associates to deliver.

+ Continuously improve our infrastructure to easily deploy, to be scalable, to be secure and redundant.

+ Participate in capacity planning, tuning systems stability and performance, and scaling of the application infrastructure.

+ Lead offshore associates to provide afterhours support and ensure they can detect and address escalated production issues with minimal onshore involvement.

+ Participate in and lead the 24×7 on-call rotation.

Basic Qualifications for Consideration :

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent formal technical training

+ 7+ years of IT experience in Distributed, Open-Source development or operations support with hands-on Unix/Linux expertise

+ Minimum of 5 years supporting a transaction processing, Internet based or Internet Banking application

+ Minimum of 5 years supporting an environment with: Job Scheduler like Control-M and/or Autosys, SFTP, NDM

+ Must have full life-cycle development and operations experience: SDLC Water Fall or Agile framework, DevOps

+ Ability to demonstrate critical thinking, providing options, recommendations, and additional actions to resolve issues, and mitigate risks

+ Self-driven technologist who can drive brainstorming and troubleshooting sessions to timely address issues

+ Experienced with ITIL framework and principles

+ Ability to work off hours/weekends and 24×7 on-call when required

+ Knowledge of Office 365 (Excel, Word, MS Access)

Preferred Skills, Experience, and Education:

+ 7+ years’ experience with Unix & Linux, languages such as Korn, Bash, Python, Perl, Power-Shell

+ 5+ years’ experience with Collaboration platforms such as JIRA, Confluence, Wiki

+ 5+ years’ experience with Virtualization technologies such as KVM, Xen, VMWare

+ 5+ years’ experience with services such as Apache, Tomcat, Oracle, SQL, SQLPlus, Weblogic, JBoss, Websphere, Tuxedo, MQ, Kafka

+ Experienced working in a payment processing environment with emphasis in Debit card and ATM technology.

+ Familiarity with MoveIT, Sterling File Gateway or other file transmission tools

+ Exposure to Configuration Management tools such as Ansible, Salt, Chef, Puppet

+ Experienced in creating dashboard for Splunk/App dynamics/ExtraHop a plus
