Under the guidance of experienced clinical staff, perform clinical duties under the direction of a physician to assist in the examination and treatment of patients. Responsibilities include obtaining patient history, vital signs, and assisting physician or APC in performing simple office procedures as trained. May also perform front-office duties necessary for the efficient day-to-day operation of an outpatient physician office practice.Minimum Education and Experience Minimum Preferred Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certification. Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program. Experience: 6 months clinical experience to include performing vital signs, chart preparation, simple medical or surgical procedures, obtaining patient history, and medication review OR no experience necessary if completed accredited medical assistant program or certified nursing assistant program. 12+ months experience, completion of a medical assistant internship/externship program Computer/Software Knowledge: Basic computer literacy Epic/EHR experience Licensure/Certification Heart Code BLS MA Certification Special Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
