Entity and activity description
The GM&T WBU delivers technological solutions (molecules, equipment and services) to support the new markets of energy transition, maritime logistics and scientific exploration, in order to accelerate Air Liquide sustainable growth.
To support the energy transition, GM&T brings environmentally friendly solutions to the clean energy market with hydrogen energy and Bio-Natural Gas for vehicles, refrigerated transport using nitrogen, but also the treatment and injection of Biogas into the energy grid as a local power source.
As a player of the deep tech sector, GM&T commercializes technologies dedicated to Space, Aerospace and scientific exploration. GM&T also supplies gases for players in of the maritime sector and provides logistics for cryogenic transportation by sea of value added molecules, such as helium.
GM&T employs 1,800 people world-wide and generated a 2017 revenue of €372 million.
The Project Manager delivers projects to meet requirements and customer expectations of the contract while generating the revenue to help grow our Systems businesses, which are primarily sale of equipment. This role brings to physical reality the developed customer solution, utilizing membrane-based gas separation processes and other technologies. This role is customer facing and also interfaces extensively with internal and external stakeholders (process engineers, project engineers, sales, supply chain, suppliers, inspectors, financial control, etc). This role will vary with business demands and can include support to larger projects, support to field start-up activities, collaboration in before sales activities, and participating in continuous improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities
+ Demonstrate leadership in process and operational safety at all times and demand that of others, including plant personnel, visitors, contractors.
+ Deliver projects that use membrane-based process solutions, and hybrid technologies. Primary focus will be projects of Air Liquide Advanced Separations (ALAS) membrane portfolio including MEDAL and PEEK-Separation technologies, for the upgrading of biogas from digesters, landfills, wastewater treatment plants and other biogas sources; upgrading of geologic natural gas, helium separation from natural gas; and hydrogen separation from petrochemical and refinery off-gas.
+ Responsible for overall management, progress, and efficient execution of individual projects: including budgeting, cost control, engineering, quality, procurement, schedule, planning, design reviews, risk mitigation, progress reviews, change management, communications, documentation, technical specifications and requirements.
+ Review client contracts including specifications to fully understand obligations and scope of supply.
+ Work together with process engineers to supply key project deliverables to customers including P&IDs, General Arrangement Drawings, and electrical schematics.
+ Responsible (w/ process engineering input) for specification and procurement of equipment
+ Review control philosophy, equipment specifications/selection and requisitions, proposals, operator manuals and support Hazops for internal and external projects/equipment.
+ Work with process engineers as they develop process functional descriptions, process control documents, control logic diagrams, alarm & shutdown list, alarm set-point, Operating Manual and sizing of PSV’s.
+ Support the Sales & Business teams with cost estimates and other inputs in support of proposals (RFP’s) and new project development activities.
+ Participate in technical and commercial clarifications.
+ Obtain technical guidance and consultation from Air Liquide engineering and other experts/Design Authorities as needed.
+ Ensure coordination or development of configuration of system electrical and instrumentation and control diagrams, including PLCs.
+ Coordinate system Factory Acceptance Testing and participate Site Acceptance Testing in field locations.
+ Responsible for personal and project safety performance.
+ Responsible for compliance with the Industrial Management System (risk/project execution/quality/process governance).
+ Participate with the installation/start-up supervision team.
+ Responsible to capitalize projects as part of the project closure process to ensure lessons learned are incorporated into continuous improvement efforts.
+ Travel to customer, project and supplier sites as required for coordination, testing, start-up, integration, and training services.
+ Other duties, as required, in support of growing Air Liquide’s Systems businesses
Qualifications & Competencies
+ BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
+ 7+ years experience in Project Engineering/Management
+ Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English language
+ Demonstrates strong process and operational safety behavior at all times.
+ Strong chemical engineering and/or process engineering knowledge with hydrocarbon processing industry experience including understanding of P&ID’s and basics of instrumentation and valves.
+ Knowledge of ASME pressure vessel and piping codes
+ Ability to manage and influence others with a demonstrated capability to collaborate with people and organizations while delivering results
+ Ability to coordinate with other groups including ALAS, IS, other internal Air Liquide groups, external customers, and suppliers
+ Strong experience in project engineering and management with demonstrated Safety Focus and Leadership Skills.
+ Understanding of natural gas and biogas processing
+ Professional Project Manager Certification.
+ Availability to travel, including some globally, up to 25% on an annual basis
+ Typical of an office environment with occasional travel for customer presentations, training, and plant start-up & commissioning
+ Essential functions of the role include walking, climbing, stooping, bending, standing, lifting, speaking, hearing, visual acuity
+ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
