Job Summary (Primary Function):
Inflammation & Auto Immunity Director, Translational Sciences
The successful candidate will help to formulate and implement clinically viable and impactful translational science strategies for delivering the Inflammation and Auto-Immunity (IAI) pipeline and contribute to making a transformational impact on the lives of patients in need. A passion for applying state of the art technologies and deep scientific insights to develop high quality therapeutics is a key requirement for the role.
Essential Functions:
Lead translational research efforts investigating our growing pipeline of agents targeting inflammatory and autoimmune diseases including a growing dermatology pipeline.
Collaborate with drug discovery and clinical development teams to develop fit for purpose translational strategies
Lead the development and successful implementation of biomarker plans for clinical studies.
Responsible for the review, analysis, and interpretation of data from a variety of sources and continual evaluation of the potential impact of research findings on drug development programs
Provide scientific expertise/direction and leadership to the Translational Sciences organization.
Have the ability to work independently in experimental design and execution while fostering collegial team interactions with colleagues, stakeholders and external partners
Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency):
Outstanding scientific background in immunology, cell biology or similar discipline (PhD with 10 years drug development experience; or equivalent)
Proven track record of success in delivering biomarker strategies, analysis plans and results to key stakeholders in support of clinical drug development efforts
Proficiency with using multi-omics data sets to drive strategic decisions in a matrix team settings
Excellent understanding of biomarker classifications and different levels of assay validation expected by regulators for each purpose
Ability to balance execution of multiple tasks to accomplish program goals
Ability to manage external research activities through CROs and collaborators.
Motivated team player, able to perform with a high degree of independence
A high level of emotional intelligence and willingness to work closely and collaboratively with other functional groups internal and external to the company.
Creative, highly innovative scientist with a passion for delivering quality medicines to patients
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Agility in transitioning from big picture understanding to detail-oriented delivery
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
An interest in working in and creating an environment of scientific curiosity and open exchange of ideas.
