Job Description
The Gene Editing Institute at Christiana Care is expanding, particularly in its projects focused on developing innovative gene editing therapies for solid tumors. We're looking for a talented and highly motivated researcher at the level of Staff Scientist II. This scientist will integrate into the oncology team focused on development of these novel therapies and will be expected to utilize molecular biology and cellular techniques to contribute to, and collaborate with the cross-functional team of cell and molecular biologists. The successful candidate is expected to participate in genome engineering and preclinical cancer research under the guidance of a Principal Investigator. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to developing and executing gene editing activities in human cells that advance the clinical protocol.

Responsibilities:
RNA and genomic DNA purification from mammalian cells
CRISPR design and analysis
Design, optimize and execute PCR reactions
Perform Sanger/Next generation sequencing and data analysis
Conventional and seamless molecular cloning
Perform transfection and/or transduction of mammalian cells
Close communication with team members and supervisors
Maintenance of a highly organized, technical, and detailed laboratory notebook
Present research findings internally and externally at national and international scientific conferences and publication of manuscripts by peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Maintain familiarity with current scientific literature and techniques in the field of CRISPR based gene therapy
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, biological sciences or related field with 3 - 7 years of work experience or MS with 1 - 5 years of work experience
Experience with managing multiple projects simultaneously
Experience with wide variety of molecular biology techniques
Experience with molecular biology assay development
Experience with ddPCR preferred
Experience with SDS-PAGE and Western blotting preferred
Experience in fast-paced biotechnology industry is preferred
Experience with CRISPR gene editing is preferred
