Analytical Chemistry Associate Investigator

Job Description

DuPont Electronics and Industrial (E&I ) is seeking to fill the position of Analytical Chemistry Associate Investigator . The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary process chemistry and engineering team in the Emerging Technologies organization aimed at the scale-up and commercialization of projects from the E&I division . This position will provide analytical chemistry support in a team environment for organic synthesis, polymerization and process development.

Key Responsibilities:

Method Development & Sample Analysis

+ Develop robust analytical methods to fully characterize polymers and small molecules to assist process development and maintain electronic material quality standards.

+ Meet dynamic fast paced business demands for analytical measurements in support of pilot production of materials supplied to customers.

+ Support analytical measurements for molecular weight characterization, determination of residual monomers and residual solvents, identify unknown components and quantitate overall purity for polymers and small molecules across multiple projects.

Lab and Equipment Operations

+ Function as an effective and productive member of various project teams

+ Coordinate analytical measurements using equipment controlled by other leveraged analytical resources as needed.

+ Manage and maintain analytical laboratories, including writing SOPs, training other operators, equipment maintenance and upkeep, and safety documentation.

+ Maintain electronic lab notebooks and deliver analytical reports.

+ Occasionally extended shifts are required

Safety

+ Proven safety track record with commitment to ZERO incidents / injuries

+ Experience working with hazardous chemicals

+ Proven track record of meeting project goals on aggressive timelines.

Technical Experience:

+ Proficiency with a variety of analytical techniques

+ HPLC, UPLC, LCMS

+ GC, GCMS

+ GPC

+ Karl Fisher titrator, rheometer, UV-vis spectrophotometer

+ Knowledge of electronic materials, especially trace impurity characterization, a plus

Qualifications:

+ BS/MS Chemistry with a minimum of five years of industrial experience in an analytical lab

+ Excellent organization and communication skills (written and verbal)

+ Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to contribute to multiple projects simultaneously

+ Experience in an R&D or Pilot plant environment a plus
