Job Summary (Primary function)
The Lab Automation Engineer - Discovery IT is responsible for leading lab automation strategies and solutions delivery across Discovery departments. Including robotic process automations and complex lab systems. This hands-on role engages and drives Discovery scientific and IT teams to understand lab processes, gather requirements, and deliver solutions of value in agile timelines. Types of solutions include automating repetitive processes, upgrading and supporting complex lab systems, and applying security and data management solutions. Playing a critical leadership role in ensuring lab application, automation, integration and IT strategies for Incyte Discovery.
Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities)
Work directly with scientific and IT partners to understand challenges, collect requirements, and deliver automation and integration solutions to automate manual processes and enhance scientific productivity.
Maintain automation solutions including new features and changes.
Develop and own automation strategies across the Discovery scientific groups.
Lead teams in the operation and upgrades of complex lab systems. Ensuring up-time and delivery.
Deliver IT security and data management strategies and solutions to complex lab systems.
Engage and lead stakeholders, vendors, and offshore teams. Ensuring buy-in and leadership support.
Ensure teams are collaborating to deliver the best-fit automation and integration solutions.
Operate within a culture of innovation, performance, and compliance.
Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency)
B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent degree plus experience.
Four years of significant hands-on experience in developing, deploying and supporting lab systems and automation solutions in Life Sciences. Within Discovery/Research and Development (R&D) function is desired.
Two years of implementation and support experience with automation technologies like UiPath and KNIME.
Two years of experience with Computer System Validation (CSV) and GxP processes.
Demonstrated ability to translate current and future state processes.
Delivery and service experience with complex lab systems including HPLC and imaging systems.
Familiar with analysis and database applications like ELN, Chemcart, Genedata, and SmartSheet.
Proven track record of engaging and guiding cross-functional teams to achieve project delivery excellence.
Strong ability to work with and effectively guide development and support teams.
Effective written and verbal communication skills with a variety of business and technical audiences.
Experience with IT security and data management processes.
