ChristianaCare is searching for a Program Assistant to be responsible for the data abstraction of patient medical records, completion of case abstraction forms, and entry of data into the Delaware Birth Defects Registry. This position will monitor data quality and confirms potential diagnoses with the assistance of a clinical geneticist. Collects and reviews data according to specific protocols.

Principal duties and responsibilities:
Ensures the integrity of the data base.
Collects study participant data from a variety of sources including patient and medical records.
Enters abstracted data via the case abstraction form into an Access database.
Runs reports and simple statistical analysis on predetermined fields within the database.
Works directly with the clinical geneticist to confirm potential diagnoses.
Transfers confirmed data from the working Access database to a final database housed within the State of Delaware.
Works closely to manage existing data, and assists with the process of developing more current data entry processes.
Works with all members of the team to understand the different methods used in data collection from the different clinical sites.
Assists with writing SOPs for the data collection and management piece of the project.
Assists with manuscript and abstract preparations.
Conducts regular data audits on data quality, consistency and accuracy and submits reports from those audits to the Principal Investigator and Program Manager.
Works with the Principal Investigator and Program Manager to develop and maintain an organized system of tracking for all patient data.
Contacts All Birth Hospitals, Birth Center, MFM Facilities, AI DuPont, and Vitals for potential case lists and conducts data linkage review on those lists.
Represents Christiana Care Health System within other medical institutions throughout the State of Delaware in a positive and professional manner.
Update the DBDR Procedure Manual as needed based on Clinical reviews or quality assessments.
Complete NBDPN Annual Report, Data Quality Assessment, and Update Directory Information.
Partner with consultants to create and implement program enhancements.
Complete Continuing Review Form each year
Education and experience requirements:
Associates degree required, degree in healthcare or related field preferred.
Three years' experience in healthcare or related field preferred.
Three years' experience in gathering data, and using software to abstract, edit or tabulate data preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
