POSITION DESCRIPTION AND SPECIFICATION
POSITION TITLE: Aircraft Painter DATE: October 2021
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt DEPT: General Aviation
POSITION SUMMARY: The Aircraft Painter reports to the Paint Shop Supervisor (PSS) and is responsible for using products and processes which are varied but generally not complex in scope to apply primer, topcoat paint, and any spray-applied coatings to aircraft parts consistent with government, customer and company standards; operates in compliance with company safety practices and performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the preparation, painting and detailing of aircraft.
Ensures timely workflow to ensure that customer outdates are met.
Updates the supervisor on project status as required.
Reads and interprets specifications and documents to define the scope of work on work orders and completes or assigns as necessary
Coordinate with inspection to ensure compliance with internal and FAA paperwork, sign-offs and quality specifications.
Ensures a continuous safety/security program, which includes operation of paint equipment, general housekeeping and monitor 5S guidelines.
Work with Hazardous Material Operations to ensure proper and safe handling of hazardous waste. Responsible for hazardous waste documentation (paint, chemical tracking and filter documentation requirements)..
Computes mixture ratios in order to mix paint materials.
Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce required color.
Ensures protective wear is worn as required.

Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three to five years of prior painting experience required. Prior experience in a lead role and paint design layout experience preferred. Thorough knowledge base in the handling of hazardous waste materials is required.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Communicates, as required, directly to customer to explain paint processes.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully an individual should have the ability to interact with and enter data into spreadsheet software.
Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to work effectively and contribute in a team environment and self-direct work. Ability to pass a color screening test.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit; walk, talk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is very loud but falls within acceptable limits of OSHA guidelines.
