Transportation now has paid training! Candidates will receive $9.25 during training hours and then the pay rate will increase to $16.85 once the training is complete and the CDL-B license has been obtained. - - - - - BUS DRIVERS: Seeking part time Bus Drivers and Monitors for the Wilmington - New Castle. - - - Advanced Student Transportation will provide 'FREE' classroom and driver training to interested candidates to acquire a CDL-B. Training is about 4-6 weeks. Classroom training is on Tuesday & Wednesday (10:00-1:00) and Behind the Wheel training is Monday-Friday from 9:00-12:00). Candidates are not paid during training, but Advanced Student will pay for the finger printing, background check, drug test and the D.O.T. physical. - - - - The employee in this position provides daily school bus transportation of students to and from school and home in accordance with school district contract requirements. This is a part-time, hourly, exempt position. Additional work hours are often available. - - - Skills: CDL-B - - -Applicants with CDL-B plus all endorsements, pay rate would be $16.00 to start. Must have the ability to work with children, be at least 18 years of age, driving for one year and clean record, Have a valid motor vehicle operator's license for at least one year prior to the application, meet the physical qualifications for the school bus physical. Have a satisfactory driving record with no more than 3 points and no suspensions or violations for a DWI/DUI, or moving violations in the past five years. Never been convicted of manufacturing, delivery or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance classified in Schedule 1, 11,111,1V, or V of the DE. Code Title 16, Chapter 47, in this state or any other jurisdiction. Never have been convicted of any other felony in this state or any other jurisdiction in the last five years. Never have been convicted of any crime against a child in this state or any other jurisdiction. You will be drug tested and fingerprinted to allow a criminal history check at both State and Federal levels. Must pass a background check. Duties: Safely operate a school bus on an assigned route as directed. Demonstrate courtesy and professionalism while on the road. Conduct vehicle inspections as required by DOT and school bus regulations; report mechanical defects to the appropriate shop personnel. Maintain scheduled route to established time and mileage. Maintain control of student passengers at all times to insure safe operation of vehicle. When transporting special needs/exceptional children, manage student care and behavior within guidelines established by the state and school district. Report all vehicle and passenger incidents/ accidents. Maintain valid driver's license, physical exam certification and school bus endorsement. Complete paperwork in a timely manner.
