Waters is establishing a new state of the art lab located at the Science, Technology and Advanced Research Campus of University of Delaware. A team anchored in Delaware will uncover new trends and opportunities in next generation bioprocess solutions and will have access to the latest technology in small-scale as well as large scale bioreactors and analytical instruments. This endeavor will include dynamic collaborations with the National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals (NIIMBL), Universities, and companies worldwide. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team of biologists, data scientists, sensory experts, and bioprocess engineers.

This role will report to the Global Research Organization at Waters.??

The meaningful work you will be asked to do:

+ Responsible to carry out research and develop technology for analytical characterization of manufacturing processes for biologics and novel modalities

+ Drive prototype technology and provide proof of concept experimental evaluations

+ Foster collaborations with world leading academics for cutting edge technology concepts

+ Keep up to date with the external patent and literature environment; actively present and publish externally and pursue patents

+ Perform cell culture and practice aseptic techniques for developing and processing research grade cellular products

+ Responsible for maintaining lab equipment and related records and responsible for ordering and vendor management.

+ Work with project workstream to develop corresponding delivery schedules and milestones

+ Work with end users to develop user requirements for equipment/systems

Abilities that will help you to be successful

+ Ph.D. with 5+ years of industry experience in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or a related field

+ Proven record of accomplishments in upstream process and technology development with a strong scientific publication or presentation track record

+ Experience with bioreactor systems, and advanced analytics for process monitoring and control

+ Programming experience (e.g., Python, MATLAB, Visual Basic, etc.)

+ Experience with state-of-the-art cell culture processes

+ Proven practical experience using chromatography and sensor-based technologies other related technologies

+ Ability to adapt quickly to new scientific areas and work across teams to deliver complex objectives under tight timelines

+ Self-starter with excellent organizational, collaborative, team leadership and networking skills.? The ideal candidate should be independent, highly motivated with demonstrated ability to work on research projects.? Demonstrate significant judgement and freedom to act

+ Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

+ Excellent oral and written communication skills and significant evidence of building good working relationships with collaborators, including biologists and/or biomedical researchers

+ Travel to our world headquarters in Massachusetts and customer visits are required
