CTG has an immediate need for aCisco Network Engineer to support our team in Anchorage, AK on a server upgrade project. The project is to isolate many of our older servers on the network and assist with segmenting our core network. Experience with Firewall configuration (Checkpoint) is a plus.

Location: Remote – Must be able to work Alaska hours

Duration: Ongoing (No C2C)


Provides network support to all organizational levels. Implement new and upgrade existing networking technologies. Must be able to work on multiple projects with limited supervision.


  • Ensure network services are available per service level agreement (SLA)
  • Ensure data tape archives and server-based anti-virus systems are maintained in accordance with SLA
  • Provide network support for problems that cannot be resolved by the help desk
  • Research, evaluate and advise management on new networking technologies and IT policies
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned


  • Install, configure, monitor and troubleshoot:
  • Network file servers, communication gateways, network hubs, and routers
  • E-mail systems, asynchronous gateways, and gateways to dissimilar e-mail systems
  • Network client software and hardware
  • Ensure all software patches are installed onto networking systems
  • Configure network and e-mail monitoring stations
  • Troubleshoot Local Area Networks using network analysis software and other test equipment
  • Provide packet capture and network trace information to other support entities for analysis
  • Provide advanced administration functions for networking operating systems and e-mail systems
  • Ensure tape backup systems are functioning and tape backups are completed on file servers
  • Ensure current virus definitions are installed and anti-virus software is functioning on all file servers
  • Document infrastructure to ensure up-to-date and accurate information is available to all staff
  • Plan and coordinate with users and vendors to develop detailed implementation and change plans
  • Select new networking technologies and develop specifications for implementation
  • Develop and prepare reports about the utilization levels of the network, down time and response time at the end-user level
  • Perform other duties as assigned to fulfill responsibilities


  • Associate’s degree in computer science, or equivalent networking technologies experience
  • Professional certification
  • Experience with Cicso networking – segmentation is nice to have
  • Experience with Checkpoint Firewalls is preferred
  • Minimum three years of experience in computer network systems

Basic knowledge of current networking principles and router configuration procedures
