DuPont’s Mobility & Materials (M&M) business is seeking a Global Business Automation & Process Control Leader to create, staff and then lead a dynamic leveraged team to support our 30+ manufacturing sites across the globe. S/he will be responsible for the development and execution of strategic plans to advance our manufacturing automation, controls, robotics and data interface systems across our manufacturing sites.
This Global Business Automation & Process Control Leader is a new role and reports up through the M&M Business Engineering Director. The A&PC Leader will be responsible for approximately 6-10 direct reports and have functional oversight for the mfg A&PC resources located at the manufacturing sites. The A&PC team provides support across all control platforms globally (ABB, Honeywell, Siemens, etc.) and leverages both internal and external resources to the site teams as needed (i.e., Process Safety Management and standards compliance; Operations and process reliability / improvement; cost/capital project identification, design and execution).
Core Values/EHS – Champions efforts to comply with existing DuPont Process Safety Mgmt standards affected by control technology, and to improve the state of Safety Interlock Systems, enhance alarm systems, and adhere to Cyber-Security Standards. Works with EH&S leaders, technology managers, site managers and Process Safety and Alarm Management personnel and teams to provide guidance and trained resources to sites for these efforts.
Support Capability – Provide guidance and recommendations to sites regarding site’s organizational models, role scopes and descriptions, staffing, hiring, succession, training and career development plans. Mentor and Coach other A&PC professionals with key emphasis on newer employees. Create a network of A&PC Professionals for information sharing and technical exchange.
Technology Stewardship – Identifies core competencies and the expertise required to maintain existing DuPont process technologies. Provide guidance to M&M and DuPont regarding evaluation, selection and adoption of new control-related technologies and applications. Identify, champion development, and review A&PC Best Practices. Drive adoption of our A&PC Best Practices within M&M. Champion and facilitate A&PC Training of M&M personnel. Develop relationships with key Alliance Control System Vendors and build mutually beneficial relationships.
Asset Productivity - Champion improvement opportunities via A&PC applications and systems. Drive sharing of common solutions across sites. Create a map of the current state of automation and develop future state goals and milestones to reach them. Align process control technology and activities with business objectives and drive processes to identify, prioritize, and execute improvement activities.
Capital Project Planning and Execution – Ensure our sites have adequate A&PC systems to meet current and upcoming production needs. Develops the overall strategy for capital improvement of A&PC infrastructure for the business. Provides guidance to project teams in all aspects of A&PC related projects, including project justification, scope development, alternatives screening, vendor and technology selection, project resourcing, and best practice adherence. Provides links between project teams and the control system vendors to facilitate cost effective project execution. Responsible for Control System Integrators and provide guidance to sites and project teams on their use in support and project work.
As a Global Business Automation and Process Control Leader, you will:
+ Develop and maintain strategies (short and long term) for maintaining and upgrading Automation and Process Control Infrastructure
+ Oversight of operational control strategy development for new investments (theory and applications for reliable production, high yield and throughput, meeting quality standards)
+ Ensures robust and consistent Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Process Interlock and Alarm Management is in place across all mfg sites
+ Works in partnership with IT to ensure robust Process System Cyber-Security measures in place
+ Accountable for Control System vendor relations, training and support
+ Monitoring of control systems and process performance to ensure reliable operations
+ Team leader for global resources, with ~6-10 direct reports, plus contingent contract staff.
+ Provides mentoring for site-based A&PC resources as needed
+ Responsible for Continuous Improvement of automation systems including digitalization aspects of control.
+ Represents business on corporate A&PC leader team, providing insight and leadership towards assurance of corporate standards, leveraging of best practices, and sustained vendor relationships, technology, and training across DuPont
+ Partners with IT and Continuous Improvement teams to develop scope and specifications for Manufacturing Execution Systems
+ Partners with capital design teams to ensure process control strategy and optimized system scope is in place during front end loading phase and then oversees through execution and start up.
+ Responsible for people development plans and technical skill advancement across the business-based A&PC talent
+ Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering is required
+ Direct leadership experience of A&PC engineers or technical teams, with a combination of both internal employees and contractors.
+ Direct A&PC experience working with at least one of the major system platforms is required
+ Experience in capital projects and working directly with operating facilities
+ Strong teamwork, influence management skills, communication skills, with the ability to work across many different levels of an organization.
+ Strong written and oral communications skills.
+ Ability to travel to manufacturing locations (~15-25% of time) local and international
