The Impact Youll Make in this Role

As a Project Maintenance SME, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Utilizing knowledge and understanding of the Engineering organization and project management skills to complete assigned projects for manufacturing, laboratory and other facilities.

  • Managing financial aspects of assigned projects, including estimating expenditures, contributing to the creation of AFE, purchase materials and/or services, monitoring and tracking costs, and payment.

  • Protecting 3M Intellectual Property through the understanding and appropriate use of competitive technology awareness, government regulation awareness, supplier/consultant agreements, records of invention, patents, and technical notebooks.

  • Establishing a network of resources with multiple disciplines by providing technical assistance and guidance to subordinates and peers and, participating in and leading teams.

  • Utilizing specifications, create designs of equipment and facilities to coordinate the selection, installation, checkout and startup of new and existing equipment and facilities

  • Exhibit proficiency in using corporate and engineering applications and systems to prepare project information and requirements.

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Eight (8) combined years of Maintenance and/or Project Management experience in a private, public, government, or military manufacturing environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role, but not required include:

  • Experience in project management including but not limited to equipment/process/facilities design work, definition of capital needs, equipment fabrication, installation, pre-start up safety review, and commissioning

  • Exhibit an intermediate level of proficiency in being able to work independently on assignments of average difficulty

  • Knowledge of computer programs and corporate systems relevant to the assigned area of responsibility is required.
