Job Description

As the Occupational Therapy Program Manager, you will direct the clinical aspects of daily operations and provide expertise in the clinical setting at both the Newark and Wilmington campuses. You will oversee the acute care services at Newark and Wilmington and the acute rehabilitation unit at Wilmington Hospital.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Handles responsibility for daily clinical operations of the Occupational Therapy Department. Oversees clinical work assignments to ensure that all referred patients are scheduled, evaluated and treated in an appropriate and timely manner.

Handles responsibility for monitoring the quality and quantity of patient treatment. Is an active participant in the Quality Improvement process.

Encourages staff development in program planning and monitoring of such programs. Acts as a resource person for assigned staff with demonstrated expertise. Is responsible for the performance evaluations of assigned staff.

Conducts staff development of specialized programs in assigned areas.

Handles responsibility for the overall management of the student affiliation programs. Develops the student manual and provides guidance in the staff's development of behavioral objectives for student performance. Schedules student interviews, affiliation schedules and performance reviews. Interfaces with a variety of academic institutions.

Participates actively in the selection of scholarship students when applicable.

Carries responsibility for maintaining proper inventory level, submits equipment and supply requests to the Director. Manages assigned fiscal budgets with the guidance of the Director of Occupational Therapy.

Performs patient evaluation/treatment and is responsible for proper documentation in the medical record.

Attends and actively participates in the departmental management meetings.

Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to patients.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy required

Minimum of 5 years of experience in direct clinical care within a rehabilitation setting required

Management and/or leadership experience preferred

Ability to demonstrate key therapeutic skills to enhance skill/developmental level of staff therapists

Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Delaware or licensure eligibility
