PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

 

Under the direction of the VP Retail Business, responsible for providing leadership, direction and oversight to the retail division's business operations, its employees, equipment, and facilities. Has overall responsibility to ensure the financial health, well-being, image, and profitable growth of the retail division consistent with policies and practices adopted by the board.

 

SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP

 

Supervises, develops, and leads the Operations, Credit, Business, and Marketing staff, as well as the Safety/Environ/Regulatory Specialist.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Responsible for leading the management team in developing, formulating, and administering the retail division's strategic plans, including strategies, policies and tactics required to reach short-and long-term objectives.

 

Responsible for the development of the retail division's business strategies and the evaluation of business operations to ensure overall alignment with organization-wide strategies and business objectives. Makes recommendations to the board of directors to ensure support and operational needs are met and resources are allocated in the most efficient manner.

 

Responsible for managing the organization's human capital, by establishing programs and support systems for the recruitment, hiring, training, evaluation, retention, and succession planning for all employees of the retail division.

 

Manages business operations with an emphasis on implementing initiatives to increase profits through performance and productivity improvements. Develops internal reporting and metrics to measure and calibrate the retail division's performance against goals and objectives.

 

Responsible for assessing the retail division's marketing strengths and weaknesses and developing programs which will improve marketing performance.

 

Develops and administers annual operating budgets. Also responsible for developing recommendations for and securing necessary approval from the board of directors for annual budgets, fixed asset purchases and leases, contractual obligations, and other matters or transactions requiring board authority.

 

Responsible for developing, reviewing, and assessing the long- and short-term financial needs of the retail division. Responsible for establishing and maintaining appropriate financial reporting and internal control mechanisms for the retail division.

 

Responsible for the procurement and maintenance of and accounting for all working capital, merchandise, and equipment of the division.

 

Responsible for compliance with all policies of the retail division and regulatory agencies.

 

Responsible for the prompt reporting of policy violations and irregularities to the VP Retail Business and Board of Managers.

 

Responsible for timely and accurate reporting of all financial, operational, personnel, and marketing issues and activities to the VP Retail Business and Board of Managers.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

 

Responsible for achieving a professional image of the Retail Division and the cooperative way of doing business among patrons, stockholders, Farm Bureau, and the public.

 

Follows GROWMARK's Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

 

Oversees the implementation of training and education programs within the retail division.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Normally requires a bachelor's degree and 8 years or more of Member Company or Retail Division management experience, or equivalent senior leadership experience.

 

Demonstrated knowledge of GROWMARK system marketing, operations, and finance.

 

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.
