Entity and activity description
The GM&T WBU delivers technological solutions (molecules, equipment and services) to support the new markets of energy transition, maritime logistics and scientific exploration, in order to accelerate Air Liquide sustainable growth.
To support the energy transition, GM&T brings environmentally friendly solutions to the clean energy market with hydrogen energy and Bio-Natural Gas for vehicles, refrigerated transport using nitrogen, but also the treatment and injection of Biogas into the energy grid as a local power source.
As a player of the deep tech sector, GM&T commercializes technologies dedicated to Space, Aerospace and scientific exploration. GM&T also supplies gases for players in of the maritime sector and provides logistics for cryogenic transportation by sea of value added molecules, such as helium.
GM&T employs 1,800 people world-wide and generated a 2017 revenue of 372 million.
The Senior Director - Membrane Manufacturing (SDMM) holds a leadership position that requires significant general management experience including operations, finance, strategy, and people management. The SDMM is responsible for the membrane Manufacturing Cost Center (MCC) at GMT Americas (GMTA) consisting of two manufacturing facilities: one in Woburn, Massachusetts, and the primary production facility in Newport, Delaware and will ensure the achievement of key safety, efficiency, production and financial metrics. By combining his/her own perspectives with internal Air Liquide and external experts, he/she is responsible for the manufacturing strategy of ALATUS. This manufacturing strategy is critical to the safe, efficient, reliable and cost effective production of membranes essential to supporting the expected growth of the company.
With accountability for the MCC, the SDMM is responsible for the entire manufacturing process from raw materials to production, quality control, and delivery, ensuring processes and products meet all applicable internal and external standards. Reporting to the SDMM will be team leaders in operations, production planning, warehousing, manufacturing technology, document control, and continuous improvement. This position is part of the GMTA Leadership Team, and will need to build strong alliances inside that team.
Strong leadership and communication skills are essential, as the SDMM must be able to motivate both exempt and nonexempt employees and maintain relationships with both internal and external customers and suppliers. The SDMM should work closely with employees and be able to discover those who can be developed into technical or leadership positions. Forecasts and goals should be created by the SDMM, and he/she will be required to meet and or exceed these goals at an individual and team level.
Integrating these responsibilities and goals into the larger GMTA strategy requires that the SDMM nurture effective relationships with key people throughout the company. Inside ALATUS these include the CEO, and leaders of sales, HR, finance, Advanced Technology Solutions (ATS), Biogas and HSE. Key relationships external to ALATUS but inside Air Liquide include R&D and various other Air Liquide business, sales, and operations leaders.

Implement and operate within the company's IMS program, including risk, change management and other key programs
Develop, seek approval for, and implement current and future manufacturing strategy as informed by market demand from sales leaders
Be accountable for the efficient allocation of capital for internal projects (eg., continuous improvement, safety enhancement, equipment modernization, capacity expansion, etc.)
