Context of the job:

Under the general direction of the Manager of Transportation Services, the Motor Pool Coordinator oversees the daily operations of the Motor Pool and Dispatch Operations. The Motor Pool Coordinator is responsible in the day-to-day operation of motor pool and scheduling of vehicles. This position performs various duties to coordinate the use of the Motor Pool assets and monitors the radio traffic of the UD bus system. The Coordinator must maintain all administrative files for the motor pool vehicles. Additionally, all vehicular accidents will be processed by the Motor Pool Coordinator and the information communicated to the proper departments.

Examples of Work:
  • Performs duties as a fleet coordinator for a fleet of 400 vehicles.
  • Maintains the Motor Pool scheduling and usage data base.
  • Completes Motor Pool billing.
  • Maintains usage data for all the vehicles.
  • Maintains fuel cards for the Motor Pool vehicles.
  • Maintains files and records, including titles, for the campus fleet.
  • Monitors and responds to the bus drivers radio calls.
  • Provides route information to parents, students, and staff upon request.
  • Respond to all customer inquiries and concerns in a professional and friendly manner both on the telephone and in person.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Training and Experience:
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED with preference for relevant associate degree or higher.
  • One year of experience in customer service.
  • Proficient skills in general business applications such as email, calendars, spreadsheets, word processing, and collaboration.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • High level of independent judgment.
  • Ability to verify accuracy of information, resolve discrepancies and follow-up on outstanding activities.
  • Experience in computerized and paper recordkeeping.
  • Knowledge of general office management procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast- paced work environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to work individually and within a team environment.
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact well with people of diverse backgrounds, ages, and all levels of management
  • Valid driver's license
