Job Description


Robert Half’s client, a manufacturing pharmaceutical company, is searching for an experienced Staff Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis. As Staff Accountant, you will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will also be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting throughout the monthly close. You will lend your skills in assisting the development and implementation of accounting policies. Also, you will take part in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Located in the New Castle, Delaware area, this position is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity to work for a company that recognizes and rewards hard work.

Major responsibilities

- Compose journal entries and conduct the month end close with minimal supervision

- Become well-versed in month end balance sheet account reconciliations

- Play a part in a variety of department-wide initiatives

- Organize and review a variety of financial data, reporting it in a way that is useful and understandable

- Handle intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation

- Periodically maintain and reconcile journal entries

- Ad hoc reporting and performing special projects upon request

- Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls while ensuring that accounting procedures comply with GAAP

- Compose thorough journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

- Assist with the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks

- Organize schedules for monthly payments and capital lease

- Manage reconciliation, depreciation, and fixed asset ledgers

- Compose analyses for income statements and monthly balance sheets for management reporting


- Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines

- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills

- Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment

- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

- Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

- SAP experience preferred

- General ledger experience desired

- Strong familiarity with Financial Audits

- Self-starter and strong ethical standards

- Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills

- Competent with spreadsheets and databases

- Recent and relevant accounting experience

- Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

- Knowledgeable of ERP systems
