We are searching for an experienced GC/MS (gas chromatography mass spectrometry) Application Scientist to join the Mass Spectrometry Division marketing team. In this role you will help demonstrate the value of Agilent GC/MS hardware and software in real-world applications. You will be working closely in a team of scientists and product managers, strategically determining what science to demonstrate, and how best to publicly convey your results.
The position entails the following activities:
Develop and perform full workflow methodologies to demonstrate the capability and performance of Agilent GC/MS products (sample preparation, chromatographic separation, acquisition parameters, data analysis and reporting)
Establishing collaborative relationships with scientists both within Agilent and external experts to help inform and develop application workflows
Document and share your work and results in formats such as application notes, presentation slides, conference posters and presentations, virtual seminars, and video
In cross-functional teams, representing the scientific and practical needs of the end user of our GC/MS products
Follow the state-of-the-art developments in the analytical chemistry space, especially for GC/MS, through activities such as conference participation, regulation changes, literature review, etc
Engage with a global scientific sales team and help train field application scientists on relevant products and workflows
A successful application scientist will bring to bear their existing GC/MS experience and find excitement in working through new application areas. When engaged in a project, an application scientist can identify or predict the point of experimental success and where continued efforts may offer diminishing returns.
