Job Description

Primary Purpose:
Provide fast, easy, flexible and friendly service to our customers through the achievement of Food Lion customer service standards. Responsible for assisting the Food Lion To Go Manager in maintaining standards according to Food Lion's standard practice manual. Maximize sales through excellent customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Smiles, greets each customer, uses name whenever possible and provides prompt, accurate and friendly service while engaging customers to create a positive shopping experience
  • Exhibit behaviors that align with Food Lion's guiding principles, core values, vision, and strategy
  • Ability to shop multiple customer orders simultaneously, while accurately matching all items from the on-line shopping list
  • Recognize or differentiate between all types of produce carried in the store, including differences between varieties of similar classes of products (e.g., apples, lettuce, etc.)
  • Substitute items when requested
  • Record on designated forms any price discrepancies and/or not on file items that are encountered, request price checks promptly on any such items according to company policy
  • Scan, bag, and label the purchase efficiently and accurately, while following established company policy and procedure
  • Verify all customer IDs presented and observe store policies pertaining to the acceptance of checks and sale of tobacco and alcoholic beverages
  • Handles the payment transaction (cash, checks, coupons, gift cards, partner cards, food stamps WIC, etc.) per standard practice
  • Understands and follows procedures for refunds, error correction, overrides and makes every attempt to maintain accurate cash control
  • Assist customers picking up orders at the drive thru
  • Is courteous and helpful to other associates
  • Wears the Food Lion uniform with apron, complete with name badge, when on duty, has a neat and clean appearance while adhering to the Food Lion dress code
  • Controls store’s expenses through proper use of store supplies such as receipt tape, bags and cleaning supplies
  • Adheres to all company guidelines, policies and standard practices
  • Observes and corrects all unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents
  • Notify QA of any cleaning issues or maintenance required on front end
  • Successfully complete Computer Based Training (CBT) and Training Aid courses
  • Support Front End operations as needed. Duties may include:
  • Greet each customer and uses his or her name whenever possible
  • Identify customers needing assistance and offers to take the customer’s order to their car
  • Retrieve shopping carts from the parking lot and cart corrals utilizing the tether strap per standard practice
  • Report any register or FL2GO equipment malfunction to the Customer Service Manager or MOD
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
