Senior Electrical Engineer

This position as a Senior Electrical Development Engineer is an exciting opportunity within our TA Instruments R&D organization to create next generation, connected, materials characterization instrumentation.
This position requires extensive experience in all aspects of electronics product development, experimental design, root cause analysis, data analysis and project management, and responsibility to share knowledge as a mentor to junior engineers. As a Senior Development Engineer, you will be a key contributor as products progress through our new product development process to commercialization.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to grow both professionally and to work collaboratively with project team members from various research, manufacturing, materials science and marketing groups to enhance TA Instruments' position in a highly dynamic market.
Electrical design experience:
Digital and low level analogue experience
Prototype generation, proof of concept and system integration
Excellent organization and communication skills
Willingness to work on fast paced, challenging engineering projects
Strong interpersonal skills
Temperature/displacement sensor experience
Design of systems using integrated components consisting of mechanical design in combination with any of the following: electronics, software, communication, electrical and sensors
Experience of embedded programming & controls
Specifically, servo-controls and digital signal processing
C or C++ coding skills
DSP programming and FPGA design and simulation
Adaptive control development experience (PID controls etc.)
ECAD experience, preferably Altium
real time operating systems e.g.FreeRTOS, Linux, etc.
Distributed controls and internal communications eg. SPI, I2C, USB, Ethercat, and CANBus
Understanding of signal processing, power electronics and electrical measurements
Familiar with software configuration management such as Git/Subversion
Ability to successfully lead complex projects, plan and organize tasks and multiple projects to achieve desired goals
Strong mentoring skills with junior engineers/coop students
Proven track record of problem solving and learning agility
Can work independently
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
7+ years of experience in product design and development.
Experience in the design, development, and transfer of new products into a manufacturing environment
