As a member of the Bayhealth Public Safety team this incumbent is responsible for ensure the security, safety, and well-being of all Bayhealth Properties and individuals there within. Performance includes demonstration of the following competencies: demonstrates ownership, creates improvement and innovation, creates a work environment marked by pride/joy, builds bridges/collaborates, shows adaptability, shows integrity, and demonstrates trust.Reporting to a Public Safety Supervisor the Security Officer is responsible for ensuring a secure environment for employees, patients and visitors at Bayhealth by providing service of the highest quality, which optimizes our patient’s healthcare experience. This position may require long periods of walking, standing, or sitting. The Security Officer may be required to man the Public Safety Control Desk at times. Minimum Education and Experience: Minimum Preferred Education: High school diploma or equivalent Equivalent college courses Experience: None 1 year experience in law enforcement or security is desirable. Hospital experience is desirable. Computer/Software Knowledge: Basic computer literacy Licensure/Certification: Due to insurance carrier requirements, all staff must be at least 21 years of age with a current driver’s license with no more than 3 moving violations or accidents in the past 3 years. IAHSS- Must have successfully completed the International Association Healthcare Security & Safety Basic course and examination within 6 months of employment. Certification at this level or higher must be maintained throughout employment. CPR – Certification required within 6 months of employment. AED – Automated External Defibrillator required within 6 months of employment. Special Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:
+ Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
+ Must not have been convicted of any felony or crime involving moral turpitude.
