The Certified Coder in Health Information abstracts clinical information from a variety of medical records, charts and documents and assigns appropriate ICD-9 /ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes to patient records according to established procedures. Works with coding databases and confirms DRG assignments.Minimum Requirements: Graduate of a medical coding program. Six (6) months experience in coding or medical records using ICD and CPT coding systems. Experience with encoding software or EMR. Must be CPC, CCS, RHIA or RHIT certified. Additional Requirements:
+ Strong background with medical terminology and anatomy.
+ Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
+ Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
+ Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
