Digital Software Program Manager


The primary responsibilities of this role, Digital Program Manager, are to:

+ Oversee and maintain the Digital Development process while ensuring procedures are current with internal and external requirements;

+ Represent Digital Development for design control and new product development in internal and external audits and on internal and external committees as assigned;

+ Ensure effective and efficient roll-out of new and updated procedures along with training as needed;

+ Coach Research and Development (R&D) team members and provide design control expertise to the organization to ensure effective and efficient compliance to internal and external design control requirements;

+ Partner with the technical review board chair and the quality function to ensure alignment of quality system procedures, audit readiness activities and execution of related activities;

+ Oversee the execution of the labor resource planning activities;

+ Ensure products are developed to the established requirements in the project plan, on-time and on-budget;

+ Report progress against the plan routinely to the Leadership Team with recommendations for corrective action where necessary;

+ Present program recommendations (as part of stage-gate reviews) and status updates to senior managers;

+ Bring program to Radiology governance boards for stage approvals;

+ Identify and manage issues which impact product design requirements, costs and/or schedule;

+ Evaluate actively the critical path and reprioritize / redirect activities to address and mitigate risks prior to program impact;

+ Lead problem resolution and decision making;

+ Lead program through initial market introduction and prepare a post development;

+ Work closely with the Technical Review Board (TRB) Chair to manage the preparation and execution of Technical Reviews, as well as other key design reviews and technical milestones;

+ Ensure performance management and development plans are conducted for assigned direct reports (if applicable) supporting New Product Development (NPD) programs and other organizational capability initiatives (up to 5 direct reports);

+ Lead multiple product development programs as assigned.

+ The preferred location for this role is Pittsburgh, PA, but other locations will be considered based upon the candidate’s qualifications and the needs of the business. Relocation assistance may be offered for this role.

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

+ Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;

+ At least 15 years of experience in Digital/Software Product Development and/or Program Management;

+ Experience operating under Software as a Service (SaaS) Business Model;

+ Experience with working within Agile Framework and teams;

+ Proven ability to manage a cross-functional team with representatives from R&D, Product Supply, QA, Regulatory, Medical/Clinical and Marketing; and ability to lead and motivate individuals for individuals without a direct reporting relationship;

+ Ability to make quick decisions, and sound judgement to make difficult decisions where technical problems, commercial challenges and/or lack of resources can affect the program;

+ Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and ability to interact effectively with program team members and functional managers from all departments associated with software product development, as well as senior managers in the NPD Governance Committees;

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Project;

+ Managerial skills to coach and develop direct reports in the Global Program Management function as needed;

+ Must have demonstrated experience and a record of success with commercial rollouts of software and/or digital initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ New Product Development Professional (NPDP) Certification, Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, and/or MBA or equivalent experience;

+ Experience within Medical Device software industry.
