Job Summary (Primary function)

The Senior Research Investigator/Principal Investigator, Pharmacology carries out the identification and validation of novel targets for oncology in partnership with internal and external collaborators.

Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities)

Identify potential new drug targets based on the literature, through internal and external functional genomics screens, and deep analysis of public informatics data.

Take leadership in presenting new drug targets for consideration as new drug discovery programs.

Design and execute new target discovery activities with internal and external partners.

Identify or develop appropriate model systems to answer key biological or pharmacological questions.

Work collaboratively across multiple functional groups within drug discovery and clinical development to achieve company goals.

Critically analyze complex data sets for novel interpretations.

Keep up with the oncology literature as well as oncology clinical advancements.

Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency)

Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Cancer Biology/Genetics, Cellular Biology/Pharmacology, Immunology or related field.

Comprehensive knowledge in Immuno-Oncology and/or cancer signaling pathways/oncogenes.

Post-doctoral experience in cancer signaling or in immune oncology.

Command of contemporary cancer biology and adeptness in all aspects of cell biology and physiology.

Understanding of state of the art technologies including CRISPR and other genetic or pharmacology manipulations.

Demonstrated record of accomplishment of utilizing this knowledge to independently design and execute a research strategy that answers pivotal questions about the novel targets or the compounds under evaluation is indispensable.

Pharmaceutical or biotech experience or deep expertise in cancer biology in an academic environment will be a major plus.

Excellent communication skills and a solid publication record.

Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate in an industry or academic setting
