Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Environmental Technician to be based in Newark, DE. The group currently has 9 members, working in this discipline 25% to 100% of their time. Our focus is environmental remediation management. We support industrial clients on remediation projects at client sites. Training will be on the job, and the candidate will be assigned a mentor. Technical competence in Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) and Department of Transportation (DOT regulations will be developed in the candidate.

This position is expected to begin in October 2021.

Training will be on the job, and the candidate will be assigned a mentor. Technical competence in Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) and Department of Transportation (DOT regulations will be developed in the candidate.

This position is expected to begin in October 2021.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Collect soil, water, and vapor samples using approved sampling plans and industry accepted methods. Document work with detailed field notes

+ Remediation system operations

+ Healthy and safety management

+ Read, understand, and follow published test methods and standard operating procedures, including company and client specific programs

+ Produce accurate and complete documentation of operation, inspections and compliance

+ Show initiative in maintaining and repairing equipment, ordering and organizing supplies and maintaining work area

+ Effectively communicate with site representatives regarding schedules and task requirements

+ Coordination with and oversight from task and project managers, on-site subcontractors, and field staff

+ Office support including preparation of work plans, health and safety plans, and technical reports

+ Manage environmental data. Prepare tables and figures to present data

+ Perform other tasks assigned by project and task managers

+ Support assessment and remediation at other client facilities under direction of staff as necessary

Minimum Requirements

+ Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

+ Coursework or experience providing knowledge relevant to waste management, environmental site assessments, environmental site investigation and characterization, and environmental remediation is preferred

+ STEM education background is preferred

+ Knowledge of environmental sampling practices

+ Energetic and detail-oriented, with collaborative style and innovative approach

+ Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel

+ Ability to record data neatly, accurately, and legibly

+ Excellent attention to Health and Safety

Additional Information:

+ Must possess a valid US driver’s license and this position may be subject to a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Record Screening

+ Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
