The DuPont Experimental Station is seeking a motivated, professional Environmental Engineer for its multi-business research & development facility. This position is accountable and responsible for ensuring site compliance with all Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations, permits, and with corporate policy as well as identifying & driving continuous improvement. In addition, the Environmental Engineer is responsible for providing active leadership and program development and implementation for environmental systems. The person in this position represents DuPont site operations and involves periodic interaction with environmental agencies and community representatives. Telephone contact and face-to-face interactions with regulatory officials are a routine part of the job. Primary responsibility will be focused on Clean Air Act Title V permit compliance, SPCC, Above Ground Storage Tanks (AST), Spill Prevention Control and countermeasure (SPCC) and EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP). However other areas of involvement may include overall site environmental stewardship for other media such as Water, Waste and Site Environmental Covenants. The successful candidate should have a working knowledge of Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations, including RCRA, CDTA, EPCRA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act.

Your Key Responsibilities:
+ Interface with state and federal environmental agencies on permit compliance and renewal, site inspections, regulatory interpretations, and advocacy. Host agencies during site audits/visits.
+ Develop, maintain and administer systems to stay in compliance with existing environmental regulations.
+ Maintain a strong, broad, current working knowledge of appropriate federal (EPA) and Delaware (DNREC) regulations and corporate environmental standards.
+ Evaluate and review proposed regulations to determine the impact to site environmental programs and compliance status.
+ Prepare and/or facilitate preparation of site environmental permits and permit renewals.
+ Prepare and/or facilitate preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual environmental reports.
+ Develop air dispersion modeling using regulator-approved modeling programs.
+ Engage with internal stakeholders in order to identify, prioritize and implement sustainability-related site initiatives to advance company sustainability goals. Areas of focus include (but is not limited to) energy use, water use and waste generation.
+ Provide onsite technical/technology expertise for air, soil and groundwater matters.
+ Provide day-to-day environmental support at DuPont Experimental Station and Chestnut Run Plaza site (as needed) locations.
+ Collaborate with Engineering and Operations during the design and installation phase of facilities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
+ Provide guidance and mentoring for site EHS personnel with environmental duties.
+ Network with area industrial environmental professionals and community groups to provide environmental leadership and guidance.
+ Manage and participate in routine first-party environmental audits and site 2nd party audits to include audit reports and tracking action closure.
+ Manage site SPCC programs and plans, including updates, as required
+ Manage and update Facility Siting process
+ Manage site Environmental Covenant areas
+ BS in Environmental or Chemical Engineering.
+ 10 years of experience with environmental compliance at a manufacturing or research & development site or equivalent experience is strongly desirable
+ Have experience negotiating and interacting with regulatory agency personnel.
+ Excellent oral communication and technical writing abilities.
+ Expert knowledge of Federal, State, and Local air regulations with emphasis on the Clean Air Act, National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants, Title V Permitting, Title VI Ozone Depleting Substances.
+ Experience in air quality dispersion models and project management.
+ Be self-motivated and need minimal guidance.
+ Be able to work well with at all levels in the organization while creating and maintaining a respectful work environment.
+ Ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, contractors and regulators.
+ Be one of several on-call environmental contact person 24/7 to man pager. (Coverage rotated within the team)
+ Demonstrate ability to use computer systems and software applications.
+ Serve as a member of the site Emergency Management team in support of environmental compliance.
+ Professional Engineer (PE) certification strongly preferred
