The Senior Systems Engineer is a leader in an area of expertise. This role functions as a subject matter expert (SME) and as a service “manager”. The Senior Systems Engineer can function as an authority to vendors related to their area of support, in lieu of their manager. They are expected to lead work on more complicated projects spanning lengths from months to years. The Senior Systems Engineer will lead process improvement and automation efforts that improve the efficiency and efficacy of their areas of responsibility. As new responsibilities are added to the Tier 2’s workload, the Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for building and maintaining the new processes required, which also includes developing training for the staff that will use the new technology at Tier 1 and Tier 2, as well as, delivering this training. As Berkley is looking to develop talent from within, the Senior Systems Engineer will also be part of the mentorship of Tier 1 and Tier 2resources. In this they will help to find efforts that assist in the growth of Tier 1/2 resources, in addition to functioning as an escalation point for Tier 1/2.
