The Director, Systems Engineering, R&D at Hologic, Inc in Newark, Delaware will be part of a team of mechanical, electrical, and software development engineers, scientists, and product directors working to define and develop Hologic’s best-in-class digital mammography and skeletal products. Staff, develop, organize, and manage a critical technical team of systems engineers with experience in the medical field. Lead Systems Engineering activities including concept, specification, design, and implementation for new and existing digital mammography and skeletal products. Drive development of imaging systems during research and new product development phases. Oversee product development cycle, starting with translation of marketing input requirements into engineering design requirements. Drive system design using a team approach to enhance imaging system performance, reliability, usability, and clinical function. Schedule and manage projects and allocate resources effectively. Provide hands-on leadership of Systems Engineering team consisting of Principal Systems Engineers, Lead Systems Engineers, and Systems Engineers, to meet project delivery commitments, to remove barriers and deliver success. Assure design compliance to external regulatory requirements and internal processes. Represent System Engineering during regulatory audits. Provide input to standardization of development processes to streamline system development. Interface with Marketing, Customer Experience, and Field Service teams in troubleshooting and resolving customer issues. Hands-on participation in products and systems development.
Requires a Master's degree in Medical Physics, Diagnostic Radiology, Microelectronic Engineering, or related field and 8 years of experience in the design, development, and manufacturing of medical equipment employing embedded software. Eight years of experience must include eight years of experience with each of the following: (1) medical imaging systems, including diagnostic medical physics, image processing, imaging system design and validation, and imaging product development; (2) managing people or teams in a product development environment; (3) managing full product development cycle of complex imaging systems in an ISO13485-certified, FDA-regulated environment; (4) coordinating and collaborating with cross-functional teams; and (5) building and maintaining inter-company relationships to support product development efforts.
