Summary:

Facebook’s energy program drives thousands of megawatts of renewable energy onto electric grids around the world and creates the regulatory and policy efforts required to support them. Facebook’s Energy Team is seeking a commercially experienced and self-motivated energy professional to help us expand our energy work to an even larger scale while maintaining a reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy supply for our global footprint. In addition, this person will help to manage electricity regulatory, policy and utility relationships to support this work. The Energy Manager will support the continued development and execution of Facebook’s global energy strategy centered on system wide decarbonization that supports Facebook’s operational objectives and consistent with the company’s overall strategic priorities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of commercial success in the negotiation and development of inter-regional transmission and/or utility scale energy storage. They will also have strong familiarity with the regulatory and policy constructs required to undertake such projects.

Required Skills:

1. Identify, develop, and negotiate commercial frameworks for Facebook’s participation in decarbonization projects involving transmission, utility scale storage, and other advanced energy technologies

2. Actively manage commercial relationships with key counterparties

3. Monitor regulatory and policy processes related to these efforts

4. Develop and grow relationships with key utility partners, market participants, regulators, policy makers and other stakeholders

5. Partner with legal resources to develop and refine commercial arrangements for these types of projects

6. Interface with internal organizations including sustainability, policy, communications, engineering and design, construction, legal, and finance

7. Support continued development and execution Facebook’s energy supply strategy for data centers

8. Stay informed of the technical, market, and regulatory developments in the energy industry and communicate key trends, risks and potential impacts to management

9. Lead and support various energy projects as needed

10. Ability to travel domestically, as needed (25% to 50%)

Minimum Qualifications:

11. Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, environmental, or energy related discipline

12. 8+ years of experience in navigating general commercial energy issues

13. 4+ years of experience associated with transmission, energy storage, or advanced energy technologies

14. Experience at representing business interests to the leadership teams of potential suppliers, utilities, governments, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders

15. Working knowledge of utility processes, regulation, and other policies

16. Experience managing multiple projects and collaborating with internal staff, utility providers, consultants, and external stakeholders

17. Experience with communication including communicating commercial, regulatory, market, and contractual details to all organizational levels

18. Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Keynote experience
