The Laboratory Technician will participate in the day to day operations of a global research and development lab to meet the expectations of our internal and external customers for topics related to the Solenis Polyacrylamide (PAM) platform. Initial assignments for the technician will include support for PAM projects related to the Oil & Gas industry. Routine support of other PAM product lines will eventually follow. The technician would support activities related to innovation, business applications, manufacturing, and external technologies. The technician will be responsible for the safe execution and accurate documentation of research including experimental design, polymer synthesis, and performance applications testing. Laboratory tasks will include operation of lab reactors to prepare PAM samples, generate process information, product characterizations, and material performance evaluations for product development. Method development may also be required as new technologies evolve. The technician will be responsible for laboratory management and maintenance with emphasis on safety and good chemical hygiene. The successful candidate should be flexible with respect to changing priorities and work well in a team environment.
+ Bachelor’s degree in the field of Chemistry or Chemical Engineering is a plus
+ Hands on experience with standard laboratory equipment
+ Familiarity with organic and polymer synthesis
+ Previous experience with water-soluble polymers is a plus but not required.
+ Ability to work M-F, 8 hours per day
+ Strong organizational skills
+ Attention to detail
+ Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
+ Ability to work well individually and as part of a team
+ Ability to follow directions and a willingness to ask questions when uncertain
+ Basic math skills
+ Ability to handle multiple assignments and to work effectively under deadlines and changing conditions
