Translational Sciences at Incyte has been established to bridge the research findings at the Discovery and Development levels within each of our clinical programs. In collaboration with academic, clinical and industry scientists, this group develops knowledge around each of our existing programs to enable clinical evaluation of target modulation, biological changes that correlate with target modulation, as well as biomarkers or patient characteristics that could be utilized to predict response to therapy. The results are used to enrich and refine the Development program strategy as well as inform and guide future Discovery efforts.
The Bioinformatics group within the Translational Sciences department at Incyte is seeking an individual with >10 years of post-graduate training, demonstrated leadership skills with expertise in the fields of molecular biology, cell biology, oncology or immunology along with experience in using computational approaches to address complex biological questions.
Job Summary (Primary function)
The Associate Director/Director, Bioinformatics develops methods for working with the program leads to analyze complex biological data sets from different translational platforms.
Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities)
Function as a scientific thought leader within the bioinformatics group and wider organization
Leverage omic data sets, clinical data and computational approaches to support and guide clinical development programs as well as harness these analysis to enable ongoing target discovery efforts
Collaborate with drug discovery scientists, translational scientists and clinical teams to develop translational strategies and approaches for patient selection for clinical studies
Provide technical expertise within highly collaborative environment
Utilize computational biology methods to integrate, analyze and visualize results with data sets obtained from a variety of translational platforms
Present to Company leadership and multidisciplinary audiences within the organization
Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency)
MD or PhD degree, or equivalent experience with >10 years of post-graduate training
Experience in molecular biology, cell biology, oncology or immunology
Demonstrated track record analyzing and visualizing omic data sets to advance drug development programs
Ability to work effectively in a highly-collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical skills
A high level of emotional intelligence and willing to work closely and collaboratively with other functional groups internal and external to the company
