POSITION TITLE:  Aircraft Maintenance Trainer  DATE:  June 2021

FLSA STATUS:  Exempt  DEPT:  Quality Assurance

LOC:  Delaware

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Aircraft Maintenance Trainer reports directly to the Director of Quality (DOQ) and is responsible for developing, implementing, administrating and proctoring all initial & recurrent training to the company. Training topics shall include policies and procedures of the organization, its Quality and Safety Management Systems, and regulatory agencies such as the FAA, OSHA, DCMA, DNREC and EPA; operates in compliance with company safety practices and performs other duties as assigned.


Organize, plan, schedule accomplish & document all training requirements for all Summit Aviation employees & its contractors to ensure that all requirements are met and all personnel training records are kept current through a monthly audit program to insure that all personnel are trained to the standards listed in the approved Training Manual.

Update and maintain the company’s electronic training database.

Implement and administer training courses, course examinations and qualifying tests.

Schedule & conduct employee assessment and evaluation with the respective Service Managers/Directors.

Evaluate and report on the qualifications of personnel to the Quality Assurance Team.

Generate a training reports as required to meet regulatory requirements and management needs.

Regularly evaluate and report on the effectiveness of training courses and materials as they relate to employee job proficiency.

Responsible for coordinating the logistics to support training requirements and events.

Assure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as all other regulatory agency requirements.

Embrace and affect change within the training organization by working with department Managers, Supervisors, and peers to assist in innovative improvements to procedures and processes which support the organization's strategic goals.

Accept feedback from internal Quality audits, include “Lessons Learned” and incorporate into subsequent recurrent training to create a closed loop process for training.

Provide timely status updates and reports on assigned projects and tasks to the Director of Quality.

Assume ownership of projects and tasks assigned and promote a positive team-approach and energetic leadership style in order to bring projects and tasks to completion.

Participate in the development and revision of training programs and material as assigned.

Maintain attendance and productive participation of students during training sessions.

Performs other tasks related to training, such as record keeping, as directed. 



A bachelor’s degree in business or technical related or 5 years of prior experience conducting, developing, implementing, administering and evaluating technical training programs, in lieu of a bachelor’s degree preferred.

Being certificated under 14 CFR Part 65 is desirable, but required; incumbent to have aircraft experience, supplemented by a minimum of five (5) years comprehensive maintenance/overhaul experience is highly preferred.

Ability to conduct, develop, implement, administer and evaluate technical training programs is required.

Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written), and leadership skills required.

Must possess analytical aptitude and organized approach to problem solving.

Strong organizational and planning capabilities.

Ability to build interpersonal relationships and foster an environment of working together.

Ability to effectively work with all workgroups.

Working knowledge of FAA, DCMA, OSHA, EPA and other governmental regulations pertaining to training.

Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and projects concurrently

Must be able to read, write, fluently speak, and understand the English language

Strong PC skills, proficient using Microsoft Office products such as PowerPoint.

Must be able to focus on key tasks, prioritize duties, and manage multiple priorities.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, problem solving and analytical skills are required.

Physical Requirements:  This position requires the ability to work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time, perform office and clerical duties including use of office tools.


Working Environment:  The working environment is corporate office facility.  Daily contact with employees in other departments is required.
