The Materials Development Center (MDC) Leader role resides in Semiconductor Technologies CMPT Applications Engineering department and is part of the Research and Development organization. The MDC lab is one of two global labs that generate customer proof data sets as part of research projects, scaleup projects and direct work with customers for product placement. As an incumbent pad supplier and growth supplier for slurries the data generated within the labs provide the foundation of key technical decisions. This role will provide supervision and leadership to a group of technicians and engineers located in Newark DE and closely interact with the global Applications and Research teams in Korea and Taiwan technical centers.
Key Role Activities
What does the role do? What business processes does it address?
+ Provide supervision and leadership to a group of Skilled Technicians and Engineers in the Materials Development Center group. Manages day-to-day supervision of direct reports.Accountable for performance management, team building, reward and recognition, employee development and engagement.
+ Identify technical skill gaps and improve talent and skills capabilities within the group to allow the business to grow.
+ Drives global alignment ofthe 5 year capitol plan across labs that keep our global lab capability in line with customer expectations. Manage building and lab infrastructure and capital projects associated with each.
+ Manages Lab scheduling, workflows, processes and systems to ensure the highest level of data integrity and quality.
+ Manages equipment service contracts, ancillary systems maintenance agreements, wafer supply contacts.
+ Manage operations materials and supplies within annual budget.
+ Serves as the Environmental, Health & Safety advocate for team and building, ensuring understanding and adherence to policies and procedures.Leads team in promotion of best safety practices, habits, and behaviors.
+ Advocates for Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity and drives programs to support
Key Interface Roles
Who does the role have to interact with to achieve the throughputs of the processes or portion of the
process that they address or manage?
+ Key member of the CMPT Leadership Team that include R&D, Applications, Scaleup and R&D operations
+ Serve as Key Resource Leader in rapidly responding to business-critical product performance issues or urgent customer needs.
+ Provides inputs to key business processes for project tracking, R&D spend and budget tracking
ROLE (JOB) SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Minimum requirements for the role (screen-out factors) including education and skills..
+ Technical B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. or equivalent in engineering, chemistry, material science, or related field
+ Minimum 3 years previous chemical process R&D, development engineering, and/or manufacturing experience. Total post-secondary education time plus experience should be minimum 5 years.Exceptional candidates with less experience will be considered.
+ Experience in people leadership of engineers and technicians in a lab or manufacturing environment with a track record of developing and mentoring employees
+ Strong interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to work well with colleagues across geographic regions and business functions.
+ Demonstrated leadership and strong knowledge of laboratory safety practices. Comfortable working with hazardous chemicals in a laboratory environment.
+ Demonstrated excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
+ Experience is Semiconductor research or manufacturing (FAB) environment
+ Experience is Chemical Mechanical Polishing (CMP) process and equipment
+ Demonstrated track record as a people leader driving technology teams to successful delivery
+ Experience in managing capital equipment and infrastructure
+ Experience with technical customer engagement
