+ The PS&R team is integral part of the Global Development Biology group providing direct and advisory support to GTPMs, regional and country level managers and the Discovery Biology team.

+ The PSR& team conducts lab and greenhouse trials to define and document product efficacy, biological and environmental impacts and elucidate conditions that can result in positive or detrimental results linked to the application of active ingredient formulations, both solo and in various combinations.

+ Connecting with regional PS&R and technical service teams the global PS&R team provides support for protocol development, assay creation and modification and by conducting selected trials for the regions.

+ Support is provided to not only synthetic chemistries but to the Plant Health business as well.

+ The PS&R team regularly interacts, provides support for, and derives support from the Discovery Biology Group.

+ The PS&R team is also involved in conducting trials in response to QAR requests to evaluate biological responses.

+ This process is connected to the GTPMs who provide the final review and response to manufacturing.

+ In depth knowledge of testing methodologies and assay development to address various active ingredients and product formulations.

+ Knowledge of chemical and environmental conditions that can negatively impact product performance or result in adverse crop conditions.

+ Serves as point resource for consultation and knowledge transfer for testing methodologies and biological assessments to regional, and country level PS&R and technical managers.

+ Support for QARs to ensure prompt response for evaluation requests and provide the data needed by GTPMs to make informed decisions.

+ Research activities drives pipeline development of new active ingredients with projected market value of $1.8b – $2.1b by 2030.

+ Conduct greenhouse and field trials to document product efficacy and evaluate differences between product formulations.

+ Evaluate and compare rates of application, application timing, different growing conditions (i.e., watering).

+ Investigate formulation and product differences in soil residues and movement within the soil, plant physiology, product deposition on soil and plant surfaces.

+ Investigate timing of application based on plant growth stages.

+ Provides support for, and derives support from, the Discovery Biology Group through sharing of resources, technical knowledge transfer and direct assistance on selected trials.

Team Leader Responsibilities:

+ Plan and conduct high quality in-house growth chamber, greenhouse and field tests for plant disease control using synthetic chemicals and biologicals to assess efficacy and crop safety for commercialization projects

+ Serve as the subject matter expert for fungicide active ingredients throughout product lifecycle

+ Define key product attributes and generate data and/or imagery to support marketing and sales efforts

+ Expand current capabilities through the development of new methodologies and assay systems to support global and corporate initiatives.

+ Summarize and communicate results with recommendations for commercial use to collaborators and provide timely feedback to the Global organization for strategic decision making

+ Lead strong working relationships and collaborations with Global R&D, Regional Product Development, and Technical Service organizations

+ Work with global technical managers to ensure all projects and testing is adequately planned and completed within project deadlines

+ Evaluate third party product claims and perform QAR studies on FMC products

+ Ensure that all activities meet local, state, and Federal regulations and laws, including safe storage, shipping, handling, and application of EPA-approved and experimental agricultural products and/or microorganisms

+ Work closely with regional PS&R groups to maintain a strong and flexible global network capable of assisting each other to achieve common goals

+ Maintain strong technical knowledge of new chemistries, commercial products, and other technology impacting FMC’s business and market position

+ Help identify and recruit potential new employees for research and development, sales, technical service, and product development positions

+ Help train and mentor new and existing employees

+ Leadership of a small team of associates and technicians

+ Global and regional travel to field trials

+ PhD in Plant Pathology preferred or Agronomy or a closely related discipline and minor in Plant Pathology

+ MS in Plant Pathology, Agronomy, or other agricultural/related science or equivalent experience with 5+ years of related work experience will be considered

+ 5+ years of experience in discovery or development of agricultural products

+ Preference given to individuals with experience leading teams and projects

+ Experience applying pesticides and inoculating plants

+ Working knowledge of disease identification and management

+ Knowledge of agricultural cropping systems, pests, management practices, and products

+ Experience with appropriate greenhouse and field plot technique and the statistical analysis of data
