Under the direction of the On Duty Nurse, perform needed medical support functions such as checking vital signs, performing finger prick blood-sugar checks, etc. Monitor and assist, as needed, with feeding utilizing feeding tubes.
Administer medication following established procedures. Share pertinent information with nurses to contribute to plan revisions and overall care.
Observe students for changes in condition or behavior and promptly report to infirmary.
Maintain accurate, confidential, and appropriate records following established procedures.
Provide medical first aid services in the absence of the school nurse according to established procedures and nursing care plans.
Function in a direct care position in a suite or transitional home when needed to care for students, especially those with complex medical needs.
Collect student-specific data including medical, feeding, behavioral, etc.
