PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Oversees all anesthesia technical support provided to the Department of Anesthesia, and other healthcare providers.
Facilitates planning and communication with the Department of Anesthesia to ensure appropriate resource stewardship.
Provides supervision and direction to Anesthesia Technicians; delegates tasks to provide safe patient care.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages the anesthesia technicians, including recruitment, orientation, retention, staffing plans, performance accountability, and quarterly check-ins.
Ensure caregiver schedules, daily assignments, and schedule time off requests Identifies and develops strategies to improve the knowledge base and professionalism of the staff.
Facilitates workflow in the department by defining job roles and expectations.
Conducts daily huddles and with the assistance of the Nursing Professional Development Specialist (NPDS), provide in-service programs for the Anesthesia Technicians.
Collaborate with the NPDS to evaluate educational needs of the departmentProvides direct assistance to the Department of Anesthesia Chair site directors and other anesthesia professionals to ensure streamlined operations.
Develops and monitors operational (monthly) and routine capital budget, with the assistance of the Perioperative Services Business Manager Maintains appropriate procedures/policies related to services provided by the Anesthesia Technicians including:
Providing necessary equipment/supplies/drugs for the anesthesia/surgical team and out of OR cases.
Appropriate anesthesia set-up procedures with specialized equipment.Cleaning of special equipment/instrumentation/carts, and performs weekly cleaning procedures (sterilizers, bins/shelves, cabinets, etc.).
Survey Readiness at the work unit levelInitiates the process for the procurement supplies/equipment (including product changes) and maintains par levels of anesthesia supplies, restocks anesthesia cart and supplies.
Schedules evaluation of new anesthesia supplies and equipment for Christiana campus.Controls all inventory expense and standardization throughout all anesthesia sites.
Maintain requisition, receipt and repair records for anesthesia equipment and monitors. Facilitates improvement initiatives for the Department of Anesthesiology.
Provide operational support to the Operating Room, the Anesthesia Department, and other healthcare providers.
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental rules and practices.
Reports any dangerous activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients, and visitors.Performs other related duties as required or directed.

Frequent contact with nursing staff, patients, families, visitors, medical/dental staff, ancillary staff, students,
community agencies, vendors, staff from other hospitals, and public.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High School Graduate
Minimum of 5 years work related experience.
Minimum of 3 years management experience preferred.
Associate or bachelor's degree (Business Management or related field) preferred.
Medical terminology and appropriate computer skills required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrates knowledge of operating room/anesthesia supplies, equipment and instrumentation.
Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate chain of command.
Demonstrates knowledge of CCHS Values and Behaviors and departmental policies/procedures.
Demonstrates computer skills and the ability to utilize various software applications.
Effectively problem solves technical issues effectively.
