The Role

This role leads a team of professionals who oversees the relationship between a Lumen and its external vendors, focusing on Field Operations, Engineering and Construction. They are responsible for driving strategic alignment between different departments, such as field operations, construction, engineering, and procurement, and the vendors who perform engineering, construction, installation, and repair work. They also administer contract terms, monitor vendor performance, and ensure quality and customer satisfaction.

The Main Responsibilities

- Manager of a team of 5-10 people including evaluating the optimal operating model

- Build and support communication channels and milestone management to ensure alignment between the field and our vendors to support an optimal customer experience.

- Standardize best practices to drive interval reduction, on time performance and unit cost reductions.

- Supports Field Ops, Engineering and Construction to ensure vendor and work quality and tracks to provide feedback for continual performance improvement. Help define and manage corrective action plans for Vendors.

- Assists vendors and internal teams on dispute resolution such as unit usage, billing disputes or quality issues.

- Provides critical functional/user input into systems designs, enhancements and implementation of supporting applications.

- Provides business case input and validations in support of cost/benefit requirements.

- Drives operational performance discussions including supporting information for Field leadership and vendors.

- Responsible for proactive work management to ensure the customer gets proper notification of any changes.

- Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and project management skills

- Knowledge of the industry, the vendor market, and the relevant contracts and regulations

- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

- Attention to detail, quality, and customer satisfaction.

What We Look For in a Candidate

- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, or equivalent experience.

- 8+ years of experience in telecommunications, with operations management experience preferred.

- Advanced knowledge of budget management, finance, and data analysis

- Advanced knowledge of MS Office products and other software including Bidmaster, Fireworks.

- Familiarity with Field Operations, Construction and Engineering project lifecycles.

Preferred Qualifications:

- 5+ years of leadership experience.

- Master’s degree.


The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee’s primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$94420 – $125890 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.

$99390 – $132510 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.

$104360 – $139140 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.

$109330 – $145770 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.

As with the pay range variety that’s based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
