**POSITION - Maintenance Mechanic IV **Department: Parks and Recreation Salary: “6” $45,847 per year to $64,185 **Affiliation: AFSCME Local 320 **FLSA: Non-Exempt **Announcement:6938001 **Posted: 02/23/24 **End: 3/8/24 at 4:30 P.M. ***PRIMARY FUNCTION: ➢ Assigns, supervises, and coordinates relatively small crews of laborers, maintenance men, and equipment operators to perform routine and repetitive duties. ➢ Utilizes labor, material, and equipment in an efficient manner to facilitate proper and economic performance of assigned tasks. ➢ Work assignments may require operation of power saws, drills, and other mechanical hand tools used in building trades. ➢ Performs semi-skilled work in the operation and maintenance of standard trucks, tractors, riding mowers, or landscaping and pool maintenance equipment.

 

***PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ➢ Supervises, assigns, and frequently participates in the work of laborers engaged in the preservation and maintenance of City Park buildings, playgrounds equipment, swimming pools and parks amenities. ➢ Makes park signs, repairs concrete and masonry work to sidewalks steps, building ➢ May assist with painting, litter, and leaf removal, plowing snow, grass mowing, planting trees and plants and other landscaping activities. ➢ Transports men and materials to various job sites. ➢ Washes and performs preventive maintenance of assigned vehicles. ➢ Performs inspections on parks equipment and responsible for all fountain maintenance. ➢ Performs chemical testing and careful observation of pool maintenance, interpreting water quality information, adjusting chemical feed equipment, and operating/regulating process control devices. ➢ Confers with supervisor on time, materials and supplies and methods for repair and maintenance projects. ➢ Performs semi-skilled work in the operation of machinery and equipment in pool and fountain systems. ➢ Operates filters and checks to ascertain whether they need backwashing. ➢ Responsible for starting, repairing, and closing all the city spray showers. ➢ Adjusts various chemical feeders to maintain proper chemical dosage. ➢ Sprays herbicide. Remove animal remains and animal fecal matter from parks. ➢ Must receive and maintain Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification with in first six month with in the role. ➢ Performs all related work as required including minor maintenance activities.
