Chief of Staff Job Description

The Chief of Staff works closely with the organization’s top leadership, specifically the Animal Health Manufacturing Leadership Team, to manage and coordinate activities in an effective and efficient manner. The primary objective is to deliver outcomes that align with the organization’s goals and objectives, utilizing the company’s Ways of Working and Enterprise Leadership Behaviors.

This includes but is not limited to the following:

Meeting Management: Manage and optimize the meeting structure of the executive team, including setting agendas, coordinating meeting logistics, and ensuring efficient and productive discussions. Foster an environment of collaboration and decision-making to drive outcomes.

Governance Structure: Develop and maintain an effective governance structure to support decision-making, collaboration, and accountability across the organization. Establish processes to streamline decision-making, ensure compliance, and drive organizational alignment.

Operational Efficiency: Identify opportunities for operational improvements that can drive desired outcomes, increase efficiency, and enhance productivity. Implement measures to streamline processes, optimize resource allocation, and drive continuous improvement efforts.

Animal Health Manufacturing Leadership Team – advance teaming and leadership effectiveness of the Animal Health Manufacturing Leadership Team, assessing organizational interactions, partnering, and joint accountability for key business outcomes. Provide strategic advice, insights, and recommendations to the executive team. Assist in making critical decisions that drive desired outcomes and have a positive impact on the organization

Strategy Realization – Advance the Animal Health Manufacturing strategy to meet core business outcomes. Collaborate with the Network and Strategy team to assess prioritization, execution, and realization. Collaborate with the Network and Strategy team to advance annual processes such as HOSHIN and 5-Year Plan. Establish annual objectives and metrics for the organization to deliver on business outcomes to advance the strategy. Responsible for integration of strategy realization, objectives and metrics reviews within meeting and governance structure and ensuring leadership is focused on what matters to drive necessary outcomes.

Executive Support – provide support directly to Animal Health Manufacturing SVP, including site visit planning and coordination, internal communications and presentations, management of standard meeting calendar and engagements, management of admin budget, and headcount approval process owner.

Minimum Skills:

+ Minimum of (10) years Manufacturing, Healthcare and/or Business experience

+ Prior experience in leading, managing, and influencing others.

+ Vertical flexibility – modulate from corporate strategy down to detailed planning

+ Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adapting quickly to changing priorities and driving results.

+ Excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple outcome-focused initiatives simultaneously.

+ Proven self-starter and able to influence senior leaders

+ Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

+ Well-developed and effective team facilitation and leadership skills; able to establish cooperative team environments

+ Excellent organizational and leadership skills

+ Analytical mindset, comfortable working with data and making data-driven decisions to achieve desired outcomes.

+ Flexibility, adaptability, and resiliency

Education Minimum:

Bachelors degree

+ Change management acumen

+ Technical content expertise

+ Financial/business acumen

+ Digital competence: ability to leverage digital tools and technologies to enable efficient communication, collaboration, and decision-making.

+ Well-connected and networked within the company or has attributes that would allow establishment of such networks rapidly

+ Proven ability to analyze, integrate, recommend, contribute to development of conceptual plans for, and lead implementation of strategic processes, and team improvement and change initiatives cross-functionally

+ Effective at energizing others, establishing clear goals, delegating responsibility, mentoring and coaching within a team setting

+ Able to understand project details, but keep overall “big picture” view of projects, priorities, and strategies
