MD Chief Risk Officer
Head of the organization's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) and Cybersecurity functions
Directs strategic short and long term ERM, TPRM and Cybersecurity planning for the organization. In collaboration with additional Managing Directors, set strategy, direction, methodology, policies, and guidelines for risk management and third-party and cybersecurity controls including establishing management and administrative procedures to ensure adherence to policies and providing approval procedures and guidelines on risk limits by type of product and/or transaction. Oversee ERM, TPRM and Cybersecurity related functions.
Works directly with the Chief Security Officer, Director of Enterprise Risk Management, Director of Third Party Risk Management and related committees of the Board of Directors (including the Risk Oversight Management Committee and the Audit Committee) and Management (including the Enterprise Risk Management Committee) to formulate and implement the organization's risk management, cybersecurity, and third-party risk management control policies.
Executes a corporate-wide ERM framework and strategy by leading risk management activities and responses covering all the diverse Bancorp businesses. Be an advocate for the company's cybersecurity and risk management standards among senior management and the executive team and promote, encourage and demand a strong compliance culture among business line executives.
Monitors top enterprise risk issues for the company. Delivers company summary reports and presentations for senior leadership and the Board on the state of risk throughout the enterprise. Develops a set of key risk indicators to provide an early warning system of the firm's top risks. Uses audit and compliance results for each business line as well as industry standards, guidelines and practices to execute against framework. Orchestrates the quarterly Risk Assessment and annual Risk Appetite Analysis for all major businesses and infrastructure units. Champions the Annual Risk Appetite Statement that the Board must approve on an Annual Basis.
Contributes to the development of the annual business plan with responsibility for ensuring cost effective and accurate delivery of risk management and cybersecurity activities to support the organization's diversified businesses within budgetary allocations. Evaluates and executes business development strategies to identify support opportunities, outsourcing partnerships, and consolidation and enhancement options as needed. May evaluate new product and other potential strategies on the firm's risk profile.
Participates as an active member of the Management Council, Chair the Enterprise Risk Management Committee, and participate in other management committees in decisions affecting the overall direction and strategy for the company.
Maintains risk management controls to minimize risks and ensure compliance with all federal agency and banking rules and regulations governing the industry and its products. Works closely with the various operational areas to ensure business operations, credit decisions, etc. are in accordance with regulatory rules and regulations.
Provides leadership to the identified risk management teams including those within ERM, TPRM and Cybersecurity. Develops and executes a workforce plan to meet business goals. Interviews, hires, sets high performance standards and manages team performance in accordance with all applicable HR policies and procedures. Creates an energized work environment, fostering an atmosphere that enables employee trust and engagement. Inspire confidence and motivate others to perform at their best. Develop and coach staff while effectively addressing performance issues.
Acts as a liaison and subject matter expert to senior management on ERM, TPRM and Cybersecurity-related control functions. Collaborate with Compliance, FCRM and operational staff and business unit leaders throughout the company in identifying and measuring enterprise risks. Promotes cross-divisional conversations and sharing of experiences to enhance the ERM function. Leads routine and ad hoc meetings to market, communicate, and discuss new, improved, or changing ERM, TPRM and Cybersecurity processes, audit controls and compliance procedures, training and processes.
