The Delaware Research and Technology Center (DRTC) in Newark, DE provides innovation and technical support to Air Liquide's businesses and markets in the Americas and worldwide.
Our Delaware Innovation Campus, inaugurated in 2007, leads research and technology initiatives in 8 scientific and engineering disciplines. With researchers from 21 different countries, the Center had the distinction of being named to the 2015 Philly Top Workplaces by the Philadelphia Inquirer and and cited in 2016 by the Delaware Business Times as one of "13 Cool Companies in Delaware." Job Responsibilities

Job Purpose
Air Liquide's Innovation Campus Delaware (ICD) has commenced a search for anexperienced professional to lead the HSE and Risk Management functions at our R&D site in Newark, DE. We are proud to have achieved a best-in-class safety record because of our highly-engaged, well-trained team of researchers, technicians and support staff and leaders.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure that the health, safety and environmental performance objectives of the business are achieved through active, engaged leadership.
Lead Air Liquide's Industrial Risk Management program for the research center, ensuring appropriate procedures are in place and are directly integrated with day to day activities and key performance indicators.
Support researchers and managers in performing the Preliminary Experiment Risk Identification (PERI) of experiments and projects and provide continual oversight of the Experiment Risk Assessment process
Understand codes and applicable regulations and analyze, digest and extract practical implications relevant to R&D activities
Function as an integral part of the site leadership team, collaborating effectively on operational issues relating to HSE and otherwise. This includes participating actively in employee selection and performance feedback as appropriate.
Serve as the site leader for Air Liquide's internal Industrial Management System (essentially a quality system), ensuring procedures are current and effective.
Liaise effectively with functional leaders of HSE and Risk Management across US and globally to stay abreast of relevant process or standards changes.
Provide strong direction and leadership to researchers and managers on topics relating to industrial and experimental safety through development of effective relationships
Act as role model for high-engagement, diverse, close-knit workforce
Enhance HSE protection awareness of employees, and cultivate safety culture
Actively participate in sharing of best practices across research centers, businesses and external partners
Will be responsible for identifying required (Safety) training curriculum for each position within R&D U.S. and ensuring compliance.
Work within a multidisciplinary and international team including internal and external partners such as R&D counterparts globally and Original Equipment Manufacturers and service providers

BS in engineering, chemistry, physical science, environmental or comparable discipline
Significant experience 7+ managing industrial safety process in complex technical environment
Demonstrated success implementing safety processes through active, hands-on engagement
Strong knowledge of chemistry and chemical handling safety
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong command of English language
Strong collaboration and influencing skills
