At Agilent Technologies, we are seeking a Global Software Engineering Manager to support software development for our exciting Global Chemical Analysis business as well as new lines of business currently in development. The Position can be located in either one of the Newport, DE or Folsom, CA manufacturing facilities, which are part of the Chemical Analysis Group. Our chemical analysis business is an industry leader in both market share and performance and has a track record of innovation and operational excellence and is building on this reputation and growing into new lines of business. This is a high-visibility product line where you will have the chance to create a real difference to one of Agilent's key Consumable's businesses. We are looking for a dynamic individual who has proven technical abilities and soft skills to support the existing product line and equipment for new products.
Lead a global team of software developers
Own the development of custom software solutions for various needs, data acquisition, and analysis
Adhere to policies and procedures to ensure high-quality and maintainable code is produced
Perform log analysis for problem identification and root cause analysis
Develop systems, standards, and software life cycle for supporting software development
Point of contact with IT and Corporate Software Business
Develop and implement software strategic roadmaps
Set priorities, achieves results across boundaries, ensures an inclusive work environment, develops employees, and drives performance
Support business goals by establishing technical project objectives aligned to meet the short- and long-term goals of new and existing product line needs
Understand value derived from shipping code rapidly to production and learning/iterating on the results
Thoroughly document all aspects of the automated systems, in compliance with ISO9001 standards
Note: This role is eligible for a Hybrid Onsite/Remote Setting.
Required qualifications:
B.S. or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
8+ years of relevant professional and people management experience, mentoring and growing developers/engineers
Strong capability in development project management - estimation, resource/budget planning, and development methodologies (Kanban, Scrum, Agile)
Knowledge of software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
Demonstrated management, leadership, interpersonal, and excellent oral and written communication skills, with sound judgement, and the ability to drive decisions through consensus and influence
Strong engineering and technology background with the ability to drive product solutions
Strong familiarity with software package installation, git repositories, patching automation, automated testing
Experience in design/development of micro service-based application with Full stack experience (Front-end, Back-end and Databases)
Proven track record of success coaching senior engineers to become technical leaders.
Hands on coding experience in programming languages such as C/C++/C#, Python, Go (preferable), at least 5+ years total coding experience
Note: This role is not eligible for remote but it is eligible for a Hybrid setting - Onsite/Remote. Travel is Occasionally required.
