ChristianaCare is looking for a Full-Time Access Coordinator to join our growing team in Newark.

The Access Coordinator is responsible for obtaining benefits and precertification/prior authorizations for imaging, testing and Medications. The Access Coordinator will be supporting our Stroke Center/ TIA clinic to provide care for patients in an outpatient setting.
Schedule
Mondays - Fridays: 8:30am -4:30pm, day shift.

Responsibilities
Monitor and prioritize incoming patient orders.
Obtain authorization via payor website or by phone.
Schedules Stroke and TIA patients for the Stroke/TIA clinic
Administrative duties including answering phone, desktop duties and other follow up related to the Stroke/TIA clinic
Verify patient's insurance benefits.
Evaluate portions to be paid and notify the patients of their deductibles and co-insurance amount.
Contact the referring office to obtain any referrals required.
Gather information needed to complete the prior authorization and contact patients as needed to obtain additional information.
Performs daily operational duties such as insurance verification/pre-authorization, utilizing Powerchart, Soarian, Revenue Cycle and insurance web-site systems.
Update patients on reason for denial.
Regularly follow up with the status of the authorization.
Initiate appeals for denied authorizations.
Respond to questions regarding the payor's medical policy guidelines.
Confirm accuracy of CPT and ICD-10 diagnosis in the patient's order.
Education and Experience Requirements
High School Diploma
At least 2 years prior authorization experience preferred
Familiar with medical terminology
Possess professional phone etiquette
Ability to apply good verbal and written communication
